    Free screen shot utility?

I want/need a quick and dirty way to copy portions of my screen.

I do this way too much, and its hassle to either do the Alt+Print Screen thing, paste in Paint or outlook and crop.

Is there a free program that lets me draw a rectangle on the screen and copy's that image to my clipboard?

I've searched Google, but I don't feel like downloading 10 different little programs that may or may not do what I want, cost money, and/or infect my precious work computer with spyware...

    Anyone use one?

You can also use Alt-PrintScreen and paste the results into IrfanView(http://www.irfanview.com) to crop and edit.

Utility to do a screen capture? Are you kidding. Alt + Print-Scrn to capture the active window and just Print-Scrn for the entire window.

    No, not kidding.

I do this way to much.

Alt + Print Screen then cropping get annoying; I do not want the entire active window for an image; most, if not all of these images get emailed. I even have Photoshop open 90% of the day, even then its still annoying. Outlook lets you crop but its a bit tedious.

    Its all about efficiency.

But doesn't Photoshop have a screen capture function built in? I use Paint Shop Pro, and it lets me draw a rectangle and grab part of the screen from another window.

What sort of thing are you trying to capture? If you want to grab a picture from a site, there are some other, easier ways of getting it. Right-click on the picture, and you will get a menu. To save the picture on your computer, click on "Save Picture As..." If you click "Copy", you can then paste the picture where you want. To get the URL of the picture, click on "Properties", and then highlight and copy the URL.

Yes, I know. I'm not talking about web browsers. I'm talking more about emailing somebody and asking if a part of a design is what they're looking for, emailing part of a graphic, etc etc. Speed. Its all about speed. I might send and receive like 10 images in the span of like 5 mintues.

I don't know if Photoshop has a screen capture function built in. If it does, I'd be a happy clam.
