What's your dinnerware look like?

Was out browsing with my girlfriend over the weekend and for the first time in maybe "ever" we agreed on a dinnerware style. Saw one that met requirements and we both liked.

We both hated each other's previous dinnerware. Hers were too girly and mine were too guyish. We couldn't resist when we found one we both liked and was on sale at the same time.

Anybody want to buy my old dinnerware real cheap? Only one plate has a chip.

This is my old dinnerware that I've had for about 3 years or so.

What's yours look like?

I love mine --- took me a few years but I have pretty much the whole set. I also have the solid colored soup and butter plates, plus larger dinner plates that are either solid or harlequin colored. I love these colors When I've done a formalish dinner - I usually have a solid/harlequin/solid/harliquin set up.

I also have a more formal plate setting of a white china with a gold motif rim.

That's what I did - buy my own. Still have my original corelleware stuff that I used in my first apartment. Stuff is OLD, but is in still fine condition.

My SIL went for the Wedgewood Rose pattern as have several other friends. Now she has the entire collection too, not cheap at all. And it sits in her china cabinet where her mother and her once a year take it out and clean it. Other than than, not used.

I use my stuff - even when I do a big nice meal for Mom - get out the plates, serve whatever up on the matching bowls and platters, tie ribbons/acceries on the water and wine goblets. I miss my big dinner/fomal dinner parties.

yeah, corelle wears really well. I swear, you drop it and it bounces, not breaks. I fear I will never get rid of this stuff!

And then one day - something will fall and break and you will be utterly amazed at the disintigration of the item into hundreds of shards. Weird!

You've been to our place, KT. You know what our plates look like. Sonoma "Color Fest", of which I had every single piece in the line (and I use only about half of it.) It was a gift from my folks after I split with my ex and moved into my own place.

A couple of plates have chips in them now, and the paint washed off most of the glasses. A few of the glasses got broken, and the coffee mugs went to the Goodwill when we were moving and paring down on things. The Girl and I are probably getting something different pretty soon. Fewer settings, and higher durability. We don't need anything fancy; we need stuff that won't break.

Sango Blue. Looks decent, cheap, easy to find. The fine china rarely gets used, and we only have 4 sets of that, I think.

Look at my first post...that looks like the "blue" version of the exact same dinnerware that *I* chose for myself that's now being phased out.

Our dinnerware looks remarkably like the eclectic mix you might find at the thrift store... Corelle is always a sweet find.

I am so glad I'm past this phase. These days my only concern with combining housewares is "How many uncracked dinner plates do you have? Okay, we use your dishes."

Our dinnerware is the Memphis by Corelle:

Not impressive, I know, but I didn't pick it out--my mum did. *sniffs air haughtily*
