I can Track Stand (sort of)

I'm up to about ten seconds so far. And it was on my roommate's hybrid and not my road bike, but still. I'm getting there. It feels so cool to be able to do. This didn't seem roadie forum worthy, although with what Pcad posts, it was probably extremely worthy. At least it's bike related.

The best tip that I've read so far about track stand is not to look at your front wheel. Look off towards the horizon or a distant object. I'm also starting off with pretty steep inclines until I get better.

What exactly is track standing? When I used to race BMX, we balanced at the starting gate but how would you do it on a road bike without having anything to lean on?

Rolling back and forth on a small incline. If there's no hill available, then you rock your body to roll the bike back and forth.

If you have a fixed gear it's easy....
