YES!! You have my prayers and support here, crackerjab. And of course lot of

(((FOO ENERGY))) ((hugs))

May your wife come out of this strong as ever, may your stress level be dropped. Be strong and remember to take care of yourself as well during this. Don't let the inlaws get to you too much. Remember that they want the same end result that you do. For her to get better.

Thanks again for all the thoughts. We're still in limbo at the moment and won't know anything until Monday whether or not there will be another surgery.

I'll shed some light on the subject as to what is going on. We've been trying to have a baby for a good little while now to no avail. So she's been seeing a doctor that had prescribed her clomid, which makes her ovulate. So about 3 weeks ago she goes in to see if she ovulated, which she did, and the doctor did an ultrasound while there. They found a cyst that was caused by endomitriosis (sp?). Nothing major at that point and he said if she's not preggers by the end of the month we would discuss removal. I had to go to my office in NY 2 Sunday's ago and she called me when I got there and said she was hurting really bad in her abdomen. She made an appointment for the follwing Tuesday with her doctor. They do another ultrasound and find 2 more cysts the size of an apple. They assumed that it was caused by the clomid as that is a common side effect. At that point they scheduled surgery for the following Tuesday.

Thursday rolls around and the pain is much worse. She goes in and he wants to move the surgery up to Friday morning if I could get home, and if not on Monday. My wife, Melissa, didn't want to chance me not making it in time (I fly a lot and have bad travel luck) opted for the Monday surgery. I did make it home on Thursday night. She was clearly in a lot of pain.

Saturday we go to the ER. They upped her pain meds.

Sunday at 3:15am we were back in the ER. They admitted her a few hours later.

Sunday evening her doctor (who was off and not on call) came in to check on her and decided he needed to do surgery right then and there. He explained that there was a possibility that they would have to remove more than the cysts. Melissa wants nothing more that to have a child and this news was not handled well. I'm pretty good at reading people and without him saying it I knew he wasn't optimistic. He said that the surgery would consist of a scope through the belly (laproscopic) but there was the chance they would have to cut her open.

Some time goes by and they give me hour updates via the phone in the waiting area. The last call I got was that the doctor called in some help from an oncologist. Why the hell they would tell me something like that at that point. Another hour or two goes by and her doc comes out. He started talking and I cut him off and said get to the point. They had to cut her open. They removed one of her ovaries and a fallopian tube. The infection spread to her colon and small intestines which required some "cleaning up" as they were encased in this abscess. They thought they were gonna have to do the whole poop in a bag on your stomach thing. And no cancer. Pheww. This was last Sunday.

Yesterday they say there is some sort of blockage in her bowels now. Do an xray and sure enough, there's blockage. They stick a tube through her nose into her stomach to hopefully unblock whatever is doing the blocking. They did another xray this morning and it is still blocked. We'll find out Monday if they have to do surgery to remove this thing.

And that's about it for now.

Edit: And to top it all off I had to move to a new place today.

OH thank God it wasn't cancer.

She is in the best place she can be right now but what concerns me is what is causing all of this, so suddenly? And what exactly is the blockage? Is it another growth?

Okay, you don't need to answer these. My mind is thinking through my fingers.

I'll still be praying for you and Melissa.

I don't know.

I forgot to mention that the cysts (actually cyst, as there was only one and really infected) were not from the clomid and were in fact from the endomitriosis. And that was the first time in his career that he had seen one infected.

She's young (late twenties) and overall healthy. My logic tells me everything will be alright however logic goes out the window when dealing with loved ones and sickness.

Crackerjab,
First off you and your wife are in my prayers. I for one know the true power of prayers. I went through something so similar in 2007. I had an Ileostomy and I had the NG tube more times than I care to think about it. Thankfully your wife is young and relatively healthy because that will help her. And in the hospital they are taking wonderful care of her. Stay strong for her by taking care of yourself. It won't help her if you allow yourself to become sick. I made sure that Scotty took time to ride while I was in the hospital because I new he needed it to destress.

Scotty and I are here for you if you need to talk or have any questions.

Michele
