Do the Thunderbirds count even though they were puppets?

Here's my beef with Babylon 5;

Harlan Ellison, hallowed be his name, wrote among many many other things an award-winning Star Trek epsode called "City on the Edge of Forever." He got a crap-ton of awards and accolades for this, but was it good enough? No. Because some network exec back in the sixties didn't want Scotty to be portrayed as a drug-dealer and some other bizarre stuff he had written into the script. But Harlan Ellison despite being a great sci fi writer is an arrogant prima donna and an all-around opinionated tool, so he basically has used every soap box he was ever given to insult Gene Roddenberry, Universal and Star Trek for the next 40 years.

Now, he gets on as a creative consultant for a sci fi show and what is the show? Babylon 5, which is essentially clone of Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Maybe he got to make Scotty a drug dealer in that one. What a Doosher.

It's not the only show that copied Star Trek. In my opinion, Farscape is the show that finally broke the Star Trek mold for Americans, since we didn't watch much Dr. Who.

I was a B5 fan for years and only saw 1/2 of the first season. Last year I finally bought the entire set and watched all but the last five or so episodes. As soon as they made Grimaldi a drunk again I got so upset that I haven't finished the series yet. Over a year and it sits on the shelf.

Aside from that, it was/is a great show and well acted, much better than any of the star trek stuff.

So tell me, did Grimaldi end up being the scapegoat and stay with the dark side? If I knew the ending I might end up watching it to the end.

Deep Space 9 and Babylon 5 came out at basically the same time, I would call it parallel evolution.

And his name was Garibaldi FYI

Farscape FTW

I thought B5 came before DS9. But I didn't had cable at the time so maybe I just watched those torrents before the other ones....

With the exception of the original series, I disagree. The writing and acting was vastly improved in all of the later iterations of ST.

I did like Farscape and Lexx. They hardly qualify as 'old', though.
Or do they? maybe I'm the one that's old...

Johnny Quest! OK, its a cartoon, but it was/is way cool!

Garibaldi

Thanks, I hate when I do that. :) I still have the series, just need to finish the last few episodes.

I'm watching the last episodes of Heros season one tonight. Man what a well written series.

Back to B5, I need to get the movies and complete the collection.

How about Star Wreck ? A spoof on Star treck. The crew of ccp Kickstart meets the fleet of Babylon 13. :)

How about UFO, and Space 1999?
Anyone here old enough to remember those?

There was also an American show...don't recall much, something to do with a space Ark.

UFO was awesome. All the women with silver mini skirts and pink hair.:p

I think the space ark was the original Battlestar Galactica. An abomination.
Space 1999 wasn't bad, but wasn't great.

Have you seen the last transmission of Moon base Alpha (Space 1999)?
