Recommend a movie we may not have heard of

Twilight Samurai

The story of a loser (but good family man) samurai. He doesn't fit in, wont drink with the
guys after work, is extremely low in status and pay. Hes forced into accepting an extremely
dangerous samurai task since those in charge don't want to waste any 'good' people on it.

I loved this film. Its not your typical samurai movie. Lots of story and character development.

Also, The Killer and Hard Boiled are great older John Woo movies.

Light Sleeper

Susan Sarandon and Willem Dafoe play drug dealers.
Oh, and you get to see Dana Delaney's boobies.

It's actually a very good movie.

Sorry to rain on your thread but it's kind of redundant now that there are review sites like metacritic and imdb available to anyone with access to the interweb.

Basically, almost any movie either in the top 250 on IMDB or above 80% on metacritic is probably worth watching once.

http://www.imdb.com/chart/top
http://www.metacritic.com/film/highscores.shtml

Disclaimer: there are some glaring exceptions on both sides of the cut off for both sources, especially new release/rereleased classic movies/limited release stuff that don't have many ratings (which would be ideal for this thread - doh!).

I just watched "Exit to Eden" - if u like Dana Delaney, it's a must see.....unfortunately you better be a true masochist, cause it's on the top 10 worst movies of all time list in my book otherwise.

Good film - not so obscure, but Ikiru. Slow and needs attention span but well worth it.

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to speed around a city, keeping its speed over 50, and if its speed changed, it would explode! I think it was called, The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down.

Wasn't bad, wasn't good. Enjoyed it but wouldn't pay to see it again.

"Speed" with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

Rear Window - This is an Alfred Hitchcock movie and it has Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly in it. I don't want to ruin it for you, but if you like suspense and Hitchcock you gotta see it.

Jaws

But you have to rent the tape and watch it in reverse. It becomes a touching story about a magic shark that swims around reconstructing people that are torn into pieces after falling into the ocean.
