Shredders are evil

the doggone things are just supposed to shred up your paper, ubetcha, but do they? Doggoneit, no they don't....they work for like, two weeks and then they break....goshdarnit these things have been around since I was in, like the second grade...ya'd think they;d have come up with a better design or something....I was just reading in one of those news papered things...you know man sells them on the street...times, something....anyhoo, article said all the kids in a local third grade class could build a better shredder than Xerox can....all you kids in that third grade class who did that, you're getting extra credit from me tonight *wink wink* ya know what I mean, Joe...can I call you Joe??

really? funny you mention it- I went on a shredding spree just last week. I'm very happy with my paper shredder. Except.. that I use it a couple times a year. so, by the time I get around to it, Ive got such a stack to go through usually overheats, and I have to give it a little rest.

I want a paper shredder powered by a V8. You know, for receipts.

The "Keep ties away from the shredder" icon will be replaced by text reading, "If you can read this, you're close enough for something to get sucked in. Bye!"

yeah, we were the same way, wait until the pile builds a little....mostly didn't wanna bother the neighbrs cause ours made a lot of noise for such a little machine.

It's not good to do too much at once....ours had a little 'overheat' light, though it would usually stop working by then anyway....

Did you forget to oil it? You have to oil it first. Put the oil down the slot. Don't shove more sheets than the machine says to at once or it will over heat. When it overheats it will shut down till it's cool.

But you really have to oil it. When I was shopping for one, I was told that lack of oil is the first cause of them breaking prematurely.

believe it or not - some home shredders instruct you to NOT oil them...so counter intuitive. I guess that's the planned obsolescence marketing model in full effect.....

I actually couldn't get work to pay for the Fellowes oil...hopefully it will be okay for a while more....but I will be getting oil for the new shredder I buy for home. Thanks for that link, Siu

I shred all of my evidence...er...unwanted documents with a razor blade. I carefully cut out each letter and number, and then slice each one of those in half. Most of my waking hours are spent doing this, but it's worth it.
