Need ideas for "our" song

My fiance and myself are trying to come up with a song to have our little dance thingy at our wedding.

She doesn't want country.

I don't want jazz, r&b, classical, folk.

So... any ideas for something different than the typical song? We're trying to avoid stuff like Sinatra, and similar.

"Sweet Soul Dream" by World Party.

Should be acceptable to most guests, and it's a waltz rhythm. Not hard to dance to, at all.

Roll with the Changes - REO Speedwagon

Feel Like Making Love - Bad Company

Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin

On a more subdued (and serious) note, consider some songs by Sting. I think he is the closest thing to Sinatra in this generation. He has some great songs if you can agree on one. One that I think would be good is "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You"

I think you eliminated every possible genre, except rock. Go with Kid Rock's Bawitdaba.

Quite the contrary, I'd say if they can't figure out "their song", they should be glad that's the worst of their wedding worries.

Yup... I just wanted to have fun with it and get some ideas.

So far it's not working too well... is there a "this thread is serious" thread?

Maybe I should go find a wedding forum...

It's my opinion that you're thinking too hard about it. It doesn't necessarily have to be the song that makes you say, "aww, that's our song honey!" My wife and I danced to "In the mood" or some other swing tune, I don't even remember what it was (almost 8 years ago). If you asked, "what's 'your' song?" I wouldn't be able to give you an answer. The closest I could think of is "I Want You Bad" by Offspring, or "Crush" by Garbage, but we weren't about to play that at the wedding.

Start with this, what kind of dance do you want to do?
