your first concert?

maybe this should be elsewhere?

anyhoo....mine - not counting sneaking into clubs, etc - was ZZ Top. 1980.

opening band was Pure Prarie League (Vince Gill)...a buddy of mine grabbed me and pulled me forward during their set just before a dude behind puked his brains out against the back of my seat. Ahhhhh, good times!

Montrose - - their Montrose tour in '75 ish? Rock candy, space staion #5 ..... mah first concert of a long line of most excellent legendary 70's bands........ awesome! Oh yeah and it was with this vile man who was driving a bunch of us who later became my husband, and even later ... my ex-husband. Excellent album though. And still have it in vinyl.

Cheap Trick, mid 80's I think. I was 12, maybe. Melody Fair, Buffalo NY. Not my choice.

James Brown and his Famous Flames at the Civic auditorium in Charleston, SC in 1966. Wearing his gold lame cape, the Godfather worked so hard that his staff had to pick him up off the floor about a dozen times.

Don't make 'em like that any more.

I haven't been to many concerts in my life. The first one was for the band Impaled.

That was a long time ago.

No clue what the first concert I attended is. First one I recall offhand is when my mom took me to see Yo Yo Ma perform with the LA Philharmonic. That or when the Vienna Boys' Choir was in town. Whichever of those two happened first. In both cases, I was in junior high.

I'd be inclined to agree...but I found out not that long ago that Steve Lukather was dating Cherie Currie back in the day, and married her sister....so they can't be all bad!

... I .... am not what sure I should write ... Toto? hehe (that one dam song - the radio just freakin bombarded us with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\

I way lost track of all the concerts I went too --- most being in the 70's when I have to say some of the most powerful bands existed - attended lots of concerts, with several bands represented - awesome stuff - remember money changers in the big outside concerts?? - they were there in order so you could exchange your monies for <cough> "souveniers". Lots and lots of concerts - and my many ticket stubs are in my storage as when I do go thru my things it's like - ohhhhhh - I remember this and Ooooohhhh this one was great ....

80's - and I enjoyed that music as well, but not so much live. Sometimes this music is labled as "canned". But then here you get more of the big hair kinda stuff. I mean I still have my original Cinderella CD, etc; however I did not see them or many of the 80's groups actually - preferring to purchase the CD's at the time.

A person should never be embarrassed about their musical tastes and besides, Toto wasn't that bad.

Sarah McLachlan with October Project opening. I didn't even know who Sarah was, but I ended up loving her by the end of the show. I went for the opening band. The venue was Deer Valley and it rained on us. I thought it was so beautiful and surreal.

You want embarrassing - The Jackson 5 (Google says 1973 - or 1975 doesn't really matter - was a long time ago).

I agree, Dogbait wins. Hit me one time!

My first was Foghat at the Rochester War Memorial, opened by an unknown band called Cheap Trick, and they kicked all kinds of ass.

I took my kids (15 & 13) to their first concert last summer, Rush at Darien Lake.

Seems I'm not the only person to call it by the old name. That's where I saw the Jackson 5 - and Earth Wind & Fire - and the Commodores. That was probably the last concert I've been to.
