Was your yeast viable? Did you put it into a cup of warm water with a teaspoon of sugar for 10-15 minutes before adding it to the dough? If so, was the surface of the cup of water bubbly, indicating that the yeast was alive and working? Kneading, in and of itself, does not cause bread to rise. It is the leavening agents (sourdough, yeast, baking soda or baking powder) that does that.

Recumbent rentals in Germany

Hello pcad,

You said ask you anything, right? I'm getting desperate to find a recumbent to rent in Munich for a bike tour beginning May 25 and ending June 8. We start and finish in Munich. It's not possible to bring my recumbent or I would. Tours seem to be made for folks who ride whatever is available, but I can't find anyone (tour company included) willing to work with me on getting a comfortable bike for this tour. Any suggestions? Thanks man, Alan

Good question. Didn't you rent a recumbent back when you rode in Germany?

I can't remember weighing that much. I'm 5'7" and 176lbs. I'm too fat for this sport.

Pcad as I am too fat for this sport should I do:

a) Ride more to lose weight. or

b) Give up cycling and take up tiddlywinks?

Why aren't you helping Allen find a recumbent? He seems like a nice guy.

The yeast might have been an issue last time. I dissolved it and it got kind of foamy, but not really bubbly.

I tried again last night with a yeast packet and it was somewhat better, but not great. My results are inconsistent.

I bought an oval concepts R710 seatpost off of ebay from a hongkong seller, will I give myself an unintended sex change operation?

What temp are you trying to rise the dough at? If conditions are too cold, that could easily explain your problem.

Hey pcad, it's scarry windy over south of Rochester. I went out to do some hill repeats but they were straight into the wind, probably 30 MPH sustained with 40 MPH gusts. I was afraid of stall so I quit.

I ate too much, but I want to go for a ride, do I puke in my mouth or onto a tailgating car?

Hickey turns it into some god awful daytime soap, velo starts talking about baking in his frilly apron and everyone else turns into teenage girls agonising over how fat they are and how to purge themselves!

what next, pcad going to ask if his bum looks big?

the only good bit is richpeoria's yummy food pics again! congratulations rich; you are a king amongst fools
