I cant read!!!!!1!!!

why i havent been here the past few days.

I woke up in a ditch .....again. and i try to get up so i can get to work.
the medics push me back down so they can start checking me over. I have a speech arrest so i cant talk
and i forget to show them my bracelet. They decided to take me to the hospital since i cant. I hate arguing with medics even more so since i cant talk.

anyway we are riding to the hospital, they have my messenger bag, my bike, and i regain the ability to talk so i ask. "where are my glasses?" which was met by the response. "we didnt know you were wearing any."
so they lost my glasses. I ended up getting out the next morning and looking for them, but we never found them. I ended up working for two days unable to see.

but i have new glasses now. i can see again.

Usually when I wake up in a ditch, they cart my ass off to jail.

Seriously, though, that sucks.

I just read a novel about a man with epilepsy. (Not saying that's what you've got.) Eveytime the character ended up in a hospital after a seizure he realizes that the medics have cut off his shoes and pants and he has to buy new ones.

So, at least you still have your pants?

c0urt- I've read all of your posts like these with the most sympathy. You may need to
consider a recumbent trike solely out of self preservation- just as an act of self-preservation.

Yup, get a trike. Although having a seizure and continuing to coast may not be such a great thing either. Maybe a fixed gear trike so you can't coast. Plus it'd be cool. Post pics of the FG trike.

c0urt. I'm sorry for all this. I've also read a lot of your posts. I hate it for you, bro. Please, please, please be careful. You can never tell what may happen. Fortunately you're going into a ditch - for now. But I would hate to think you would end up going into traffic if something like that happens again.

that sucks c0urt.
there is at least one guy around there that I've seen who rides a trike. he seems to be disabled in someway and doesn't ride very fast on it, but I see him everywhere...

so... are you going to post pics of yourself with your new glasses?

Their main concern when finding you like that is a spine/head injury that could be made worse from you moving around. I'm sure they weren't meaning to shove you down into the ditch like they were being mean or anything. (I'm an EMT so I know a *bit* of what they are thinking)

As for you not showing them your bracelet, they should have looked for it. Looking for medic alert tags is part of our job.

Anyway, sorry to hear about that! Be careful too, like some others said we don't want you to end up in traffic

+1 for the recumbent trike. A guy whipped past me on the trail a few weeks ago on one of those recumbent trikes and he really went fast.

I thought EMT's were supposed to check for medic alert bracelets?

Sorry about your eyeglasses -- luckily they can be replaced!

My best to you, c0urt!!

I actually try not to give the emt's too much grief because I understand just how much stuff they have to put up with, a lot of my friends are burned out emt's

But I have had a lot of people not look for my bracelet, no one looked for it at the the hospital either time most recently.

and there will be a picture of me eventually.

Maybe you should get a tattoo on your chest or somewhere that says "Look at my goddamn MedicAlert bracelet!"

Sorry you had another incident, c0urt, and I'm glad it wasn't worse than it was. Be careful out there.

Court, I hope you heal quickly and the good folks in the Northwest are treating you with care...I'll be thinking of you as I do a one-and-a-half day trip to Seattle Monday. Are you near Seattle; if so, have you checked out some of the local support groups to at least find out how people are coping near you? Here's a local I found...

I don't think you need a support group. You don't let your problem stop you from doing
whatever you want. Sometimes it stops you though. Your life has value- please don't
be stubborn and let yourself get killed in a way that is completely avoidable.
