I can't remember the last commercial I've seen on TV.

Think differently.

Lately I've been saying that Apple is the Republican Party of PC advertising.

I'd just like to thank Apple for changing the charging pins on the new iPod touch just enough so that none of my older charging systems works for it, forcing me to spend a ton getting things that will work.

Thanks Apple

Maybe it's because they don't feel like filling warranty claims when people destroy their iPod by using an out-dated PSU.

Use Apple if you don't do much your computer and just want it work. Use Windblows if you enjoy sampling from a HUGE pool of programs. Use Linux if you want both.

Xbox and X360 as extenders on my network

I will buy a Mac when they sponsor a Nascar Cup team for an entire season.

I use a PC (Windows XP) at work.

I use a MacBook at home, and just bought an iPhone. My wife uses a PC both at work and home, both running XP. She, too, has an iPhone. I don't really have a preference one way or the other with regards to what OS my system runs, so long as it works and is fairly stable.

That said, I hate the Apple ads. They're not accurate. My MIL just got a new computer with Vista, and I had no problems at all in setting it up for her. Her existing peripherals worked with simple downloads of the most current drivers. Meanwhile, I have peripherals that won't work with my MacBook. I especially hate the current one where they pick on Windows for not calling their OS Vista anymore. They're trying to point out that MS is trying to distance themselves from the stigma of Vista. What bothers me is that Apple renames their OS, too (Tiger, Leopard, Jaguar, Cheetah, Ocelot, Puma, whatever). So I guess it's OK for them to rename their OS every time it's upgraded, but not for MS to do the same with Windows.

ok, I just watched it and, while it's a pretty cool statement, none of it pertains to apple. I mean are we supposed to believe they all used Macs or something? My bet is that had most of them done their incredible work on computers, most of them would have been using PCs.

EDIT: This was all typed out on an iPod touch.

But they'd have to send it to Cupertino every time it needed fuel.

I run 2000(!) at work, XP on home desktop, and Vista HP on personal laptop. No complaints about any of them. All work well. No software or driver issues on the Vista machine. I'm just sayin'.

Like anyone would have bought WinXP if the advertising was accurate:

"We're pretty sure that enough of the bugs have been dealt with to a degree where it should install. Probably. Where do you want to go today?
Stack Dump at Module 01XE:LKHDSF()*EHRNF
Advertisment halted. Would you like to send an error message?"

Advertising is often unrelated to substance. It's frequently about creating an emotional tie to a brand, because people often buy on emotion more than anything else. And few ads do that as effectively as the Apple 'Think Different' spot, whether you think it's hooey or not.
