Nobody gets my jokes.

I was at Texas Roadhouse yesterday. Our waitress was noticably pregnant, so I asked how she liked her new Volkswagen Routan.
She just gave me a blank stare.

My wife got the joke at least.

Why 13 in a seven passenger vehicle? Where's the seventh person going to put their second super-size Coke?

it wasn't a great joke, but you'd have to be in the know to understand it. inside joke almost.

That's not a great joke for strangers. It lacks universal appeal and requires special or obscure knowledge or experience.

Funny that VW sales were lackluster when they were focused on German engineering. Their cars would not sell for lack of cupholders. Now they are touting 13 cupholders as German engineering. I think it would be cooler to engineer in a drink dispensing system AND a cupholder at each seating location.

Back in high school, I had a friend with a 70's era land yacht Oldsmobuick of some sort. He rerouted the line from the windshield wiper reservoir into the fold down/pull out are for the ash tray. Filled the washer reservoir with booze, and could make mixed drinks on the fly just by opening the ashtray, and pushing the windshield washer button.

BTW, the drinking age in Texas was 18 at the time and it was LEGAL to drink and drive in Texas. You could roll up on the popo while sippin your gin and juice and it was all cool.

Scary.

Some people just aren't funny.

I do get the joke, though, and I don't even watch TV.

There's nothing better than watching a standup comic die onstage. I wish I'd been there, ef, just for the pregnant pause and to see thelook on your waitress's face. Those are magical moments.

The ad is an example of "German humor". As with "Army intelligence", it is a contradiction of terms. The whole concept for the ad is not funny, therefor...

Plus, the ad has passed before my eyes numerous times, and I had no idea what a Routan was until I read the link you kindly provided. So much for effective use of "German humor" in advertising.

Next time, compare your waitress to something from Oklahoma. I'm sure the results would be a lot funnier.
