Black friday!!

Who's ready? For those of you that don't know it is the day after Thanksgiving when everything goes on super sale everywhere. Specially electronics, and department stores.

Some of you may think those that go out are crazy but I think its the funnest time you can have.

2 years ago my dad and I woke up at 4 a.m. and waited in line for 5 hours to get an xbox 360 for 100 dollars off. It wasn't the funnest time but it was quite an experience. Last year my friend and I took it apon ourselves to go all out and pitched a tent, got 2 propane heaters, brought some speakers and an ipod to listen to and of course cards and all the stuff you do when you're bored.

Needless to say it was one of the funnest days of the year. You get to hang out super nice and warm while mainly everyone else is outside in a lawn chair with 1 blanket freezing their as*es off. And the best part is the 2 hours right before the store opens. People come and try to cut in line and everyone curses at them, its a jolly good time.

Last year I saw 4 people get put in hand cuffs and plenty others escorted away from the front of the line. It is really funny how serious everyone takes it.

Anyways this year we are doing the same thing only with blow up mattresses, and we are bringing a car battery, inverter, and hot plate so we can make pancakes in the morning and eat them in everyone's faces.

So lets hear your rants or stories.

I think it's time to get a car-specific GPS:

Walmart's got a NUVI for $97:

I will probably bite. Wait outside a big box at 3-4 AM and get something nice. Consumerism is weird, but to me that's just fun.

The mayor of Tucson declared Black Friday as Tucson Shop Local Day. I'm setting up a massage chair at an event and offering complimentary massages for tips, also offering gift certificates at a discounted rate.

I'm hoping to get in a fight with several hefty women and become a symbol of America on the news throughout the world. Or maybe just fight some parents at a little league game.

Unless I was paid good money, I wouldn't be seen dead at a store on that day. I'll be writing a term paper next week end. I've already got the important gifts (for stepson) purchased.

I shall be doing all my black friday shopping from the comfort and safety from my room. Newegg is having a sale of 22" monitors for $150. I dunno what else they have plotted, but it should be interesting.

edit: They are NOT $150. They are $130.

I'd say to just sit there, eat your breakfast, and not leave your spot to shop. Like tailgating without the stadium.

X has got it. That day is buy nothing day. I'm curious though, to see how our current economic situation affects Black Friday. People will still probably spend a lot of money, but hopefully not as much money.

Black Friday is that day every year when i get down on my knees and thank the powers that be that i no longer work at the mall, or even in retail.

i'll probably go to work for a couple hours in the morning and to Critical Mass in the afternoon.

I like to go to Wal*Mart. I don't buy anything there, especially during this season. I just watch people there and feel better about my life.

As long as it's cash they're spending, that's nothing but good for the economy.

Granted, I'm biased due to working retail, but at least one job is affected by consumers' willingness to spend money they have for gear they need....mine!
