the 2008 GIVE THANKS thread

I think we had one of these b4. but new year warrants new thanks, no?

So let's hear what everyone is thankful for

for me, I am thankful first and foremost for my wonderful wife who, I am always amazed to realize, is actually my partner and no, it's not just been a nice dream.

I'm thankful I woke up today healthy and in (for me) reasonable lucidity.

I'm thankful I live in a free country; all P&R aside, there is so much to be grateful for, and while I don't always agree with what transpires, I know the govt, the military and everyone else do what they feel is right in their hearts and I am glad we all can do that here.

perhaps most poignantly in 2008, I am glad I still have a job!

finally I am thankful to have stumbled into Foo. you guys make me laugh when I need it most. Hell, you made my wife laugh the other day (She was having a really bad day - i tried everything to get a smile and in the end it was P&R FTW).

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday, with many good things to be thankful for.

well, despite all the emotional crap i've had to deal with this year pertaining to my life, i am thankful for a few things:

- i woke up this morning and i'm in pretty good health
- i have 2 great kids and both are healthy
- i, too, am thankful that i live in this great country and thankful for all who have made it this way and keep it this way!
- i have a job
- i've met a great guy and will spend some quality time with him over the holidays and not be alone.
- i almost forgot....i'm very thankful for having my Foo Family. you guys have been such a huge help to me in the past few months - UA for all the advice and support when i've had "issues" with nyguy, pgoat for the great supposrt and for making me laugh, Air for the great advice given in that dating thread, Hickeydog & AEO for being such sporting/fun guys (and for Hickey "playing" in my dungeon for a while).
- and to the rest of you who aren't mentioned - thank you too!!!

Foo Love Is Good Love.

Well, I'm thankful for the wonderful people who decided I was worth throwing $2000 at...merit scholarships ftw.

I'm thankful for teh kitteh, who is right now warming my feet because they are cold and sweaty from late night/early morning ouchies. Kitteh also gives great back massages--plonk him on my back and he totters around on his little paws, kinda like a shiatsu massage

I am thankful that I have a wonderful part-time job where I get to work with amazing students who, although have been dealt bad hands by life, are working so hard to get themselves out of the hole they're in. The work environment is awesome, as I have a totally supportive boss and fun coworkers. The pay is great too--I'm making more per hour than my dad who works at the post office. Plus, as pgoat said, I'm mighty glad to even have a job in this current economy.

I'm thankful for the opportunities I have in America. I may not always like the country, but I sure have grown to love it.

To all those who rallied around me and supported me earlier last month when I was upset over prop 8...thanks. You guys got me out of that ditch and back on the battlefield.

I'm thankful for the bf, who is always there for me with backrubs when the kittah won't do it, food when I'm too lazy/poor to cook/buy any and advice/support when I need it. He calms me down when I'm stressed, and takes me away from my family when they get to be too much. Which is a lot of the time.

I'm thankful for my nuclear family, who, although are really stress-inducing a lot of the time, are a great bunch anyway. Special thanks to my dad who got me off my ass about cleaning my room because he did my floors...though I *really* had to suffer for it because of his bad timing, it looks much better now.

And last, but not the least, all of you guys at bikeforums, especially in Foo, P&R, and the foldies forum, for providing endless hours of amusement. Special thanks to Prez Cbad, who made me Foo Sec. of State; UA, for being so sporting about falling off a cliff for my political gain; Air, who has good advice about our little corner of academia; ilikebikes, who is the awesomest ever for sending me a camera for free when mine conked out; and Stacey and WOS for being such inspirations to us all.

And to anyone else I missed--thank you too!

I'm blessed and thankful for:

- My fitness, which I'm fortunate enough to continue to improve while doing my favorite activity
- My family, who has been more than supportive, as always.
- Finally finding someone that's pretty aligned with who I am.
- My previous experiences with women and dating.
- This co-op experience that I have been a part of for the last six months. It showed me that (at least right now), desk jobs are not what I want.
- The few true friends that I have.

I feel so incredibly fortunate to have been born in the place and time that I was; to be born into a loving (if slightly insane) family; and to have my health.

I'm a very lucky boy.

I be thankful that i have a job that i enjoy in these hard times. I'm thankful that my father has allowed me to live under his roof free of charge to help me get on my feet. I'm thankful that he has had a banner year in terms of work considering these economic times. I am thankful that my job allows me to help people who are not nearly as fortunate as myself and my family and i am thankful that the wounds within my family have finally begun to heal it seems.

For BF's and the people here, especially in Foo. without this place, I'd have lost my mind completely and probably been on the 6:00 news at some point. this is one of the few things that keeps me sort of sane.

I am thankful that my husband is the sweetest man in the world, and has stuck with me through bad times and good.

I am also thankful that I am able to contribute, even if it's only a small amount, to this:

Tara Llanes needs your support

I only wish I could do even more for everyone I know, but I do my best (even though I am still a bad mod).

I'm thankful for my parents. As a child, they gave me everything they could and, I think, raised me very well. If I were to tally it up, I'd owe them far more than I could ever repay. Fortunately, they haven't done any tallying.
