Scammy McScammer

Quote:
Thanks ,

I appreciate your response to my inquiry. Am interested in buying it from you. I would love to come and check it myself but I just got married and am presently on an honeymoon trip to Hawaii with my wife .. Please do withdraw ,with immediate effect, the advert from Web as i don't mind adding $50 for you to do that, so i can be rest assured that the item is held for me. I should believe it is in good condition as stated. I will be making the payment via a Certified Check, which my secretary will mail across to you. I'll be picking the item from you with the aid of my mover. My Mover will be coming to pick it from you once the Certified Check has been cashed. Please I will need both your full name and physical address along with you phone number to issue out the payment.

I await your urgent response
I thought it sounded pretty good. Why would they want my bike anyways?....hrmmm

Why doesn't the mover just pay in cash when they pick up your bike?

if you are concerned about giving them your address why not ask them to mail the check to your bank?

I really like how he refers to it as "the item" so he doesn't have to rewrite it for any item scammed.

Tell them that you're sorry, but you can't release "the merchandise" until the check clears. You won't get a reply.

I replied "Ha funny, smells like a scam. I don't accept checks. However I'm willing to hold it until you come back." No reply back yet.

Let's see, dumpster dive for a BMX bike... can we fill the frame with cement? Cut some spokes, maybe?

See how this guy did it...

Can you send me a screen shot of this? I'll relay it to the webmaster. You can do it by email. tom(at)bikeforums(dot)net

You might also want to do a spyware check, since we don't do ads like that. It's very possible you've picked up a little bit of malware....easy to have happen no matter how careful you are.
