He made two different pumpkin pies from scratch for Thanksgiving and he's addicted to chocolate. I still remember thinking he made the best mashed potatoes when I was little. Yeah, he's good.

Dad made three things - all on the grill and all looked like this.

Dad's Hamburgers & Hot Dogs (you didn't know if you were eating a red or white hot dog)

Dad's Steak (also a classically crispy blackened version that was dry and tough when he got done with it)

My dad was master of the BBQ and smoker. He liked to go fishing and whenever he brought home yellowtail, it went into the smoker. Yum.

He also BBQ'd our Thanksgiving turkey every year. My brother carried on the tradition this year.

Your dad gone too?

Dad didn't fish, and he wasn't much of a cook. He did pretty good grilling hamburgers though.

It's good stuff. Don't need much spam to flavor it. You can go light on the soy sauce too.

But even better with Portugese sausage. I miss Zippy's and the special breakfast items at McDonalds.

I think God cut me some slack by not putting me in Hawaii. I'd have a heart attack before 40. Seriously, if I had folks that could cook w/ Portugese sausage, chicken katsu, moco loco, et. al. Bad news.

My dad sometimes cooks better than my mom, especially with beef--my mom tends to overcook meats and make them yucky and rubbery. I still cook waaaay better than either of my parents though, since I learned from my grandparents.

Well Tude, you can say that your dad treated you like a goddess. He served you burnt offerings. I slay myself sometimes.

Omelets. My dad taught me how to make the perfect omelet. And to appreciate the chemistry behind successful cooking (he was a chemist).

I do 98% of the cooking in my house. My wife just does have the patience for it, plus, she is a messy cook. I clean up as I cook and it make life so much easier at the end.

My dad disappeared when I was 8 and that's kind of ironic because he was a magician. My wife's dad couldn't find the kitchen with a road map.

Potatoes and eggs.

ALL. OF. THE. TIME.

(Just kidding. He can make some basic stuff now, and he's alright with it. But he never cooks; no time.)

I don't remember ever seeing my father cook!

No, wait!

He did get out there and barbecue a few hamburgers every once in a while .

Not any better than mom or grandmothers. None of them should be allowed in the kitchen!
