Something loaned to you that you lost...

1986 Miami Vice Soundtrack on cassette, my best friend's. I lost it. He forgave me.

How about something loaned that was lost, such as the Super 8 film projector my mother loaned to a customer, at the camera store she works at, yet no longer remembers who the customer is.

Back in 1992 a friend lent me her boyfriend's stolen Gameboy but my brother's friend stole it and then lost it to someone else... let's see the number of hands it went through:

1) Original owner
stolen by:
2) My friend's boyfriend
and the Gameboy was taken by:
3) my friend
who lent it to
4) Me
but then:
5) my brother
played with it and took it to school without my knowing, and it was stolen by
6) my brother's "friend"
who then lost it to
7) another kid who stole it
Who knows what the poor Gameboy went through after that.

Since I was the last responsible adult with the thing I apologised to my friend but she said not to worry about it. She took it from her boyfriend because he was paying more attention to it than her. And he stole it from a stranger at a house party.

I mean, really, how did I get wound up in something this stupid? I don't even remember the game in the thing.

I'm really good about returning stuff I borrow, but the one thing I did loose was the first CD of SWAT 4 that my friend loaned me. But it all works out, because he lost the copy of "Black Hawk Down" that I loaned him. But we did pay for each other's losses.

I was serious. I made some black powder, had a pipe, and wanted to see how far they would go. They went farther than I expected. A lot farther.

I don't lose stuff (it's others who lose my stuff...which is why I have been careful about loaning in past...lately I don't care as much)

One day I'm gonna remember to get my chainsaw back. The first guy I loaned it too had it for 2 years. I actually forgot I owned a chainsaw until he called me outta the blue to come get it. Then I loaned it to another guy in April and he still has it. At least he's accessible anytime i need to get the saw back.

A "friend" loaned me his car, an MB midget. He had told me that he wanted me to keep an eye on it because where he lives, there is no parking and he takes the bus. He wanted me to drive it around here and there so to keep the car healthy - it's not good for a car to sit. He kept getting tickets on it because you needed a residential sticker and he just never got one.

I had fun in that little car, I took it everywhere!! I must have had it for about two months when one day it was gone - - stolen - - I was really upset about it and I called him immediately. He didn't seem to be too upset though......

Ends up that it really was HIS BOSS' car!! He was supposed to watch the car while the boss was away. He found out he was to be fired when the boss got back. When the boss got back he wanted the car. My friend wanted his last paycheck (by law you should get your paycheck on date of termination) and since the boss didn't give it, he refused to surrender the car.

Soooooooo he gave it to me to "watch".......

I'm guessing it was finally taken by the cops and returned to the owner, since it had Virginia plates and kinda stuck out in the neighborhood because of them.

Lucky for him I didn't get put in jail for a stolen car.
