Choose: Suffer pain or Be Stoned

I haz pills. Been taking them since Friday (surgery day)... no pain but no sleeping either. I was starting to get severe depression. I stopped taking the pills this morning, now I have severe pain from the surgery but I feel in control of myself.

Everything is always a dilema... :S

Option 3: Call your doctor and tell him/her that you're experiencing adverse side effects of the pain meds you've been prescribed, and can they prescribe something else instead.

LoL! I'm in no shape for such endevour. I'll suffer tonight, take some advil and call Doc tomorow to prescribe something else. The Hydrocodone I was on before was working fine. It's this new oxycodone (percocet) what was driving me crazy. I was hearing people trying to break in, hearing the phone constantly, hearing my Mom (who's 2k miles away) calling me out the front door... weird.

thx for all the sugestions...

Pain killers are in no way supposed to give you a severe depression. Not in a few days, call your doc ASAP.
Them's some heavy pills you got there G, if not working discontinue.

I'm allergic to opiates.
After my last neck surgery they gave me "Ultram".
It did a fair job.

Take those side effects very seriously. For many things and many patients, doctors have a lot of choices about particular meds and particular dosages, and can usually find a combination that does what it needs to do without unbearable side effects.

Do not **** around with depression. Talk to your doc quickly.

Stoned or feeling pain?
Hmm...tough decision
But yea, talk to the dr. and see if there's an alternative med. Depression can be very hard on you and your family.

hydrocodone is some heavy stuff. I would see if you could go back to the vicodin. I had to take the latter at one time and it just made me loopy... at least I wasn't in pain.

That got me good and "stoned" after I broke my foot. 1/2 hour after taking it, I was flat out immobilized. Conscious about 12 hours later, and the pain relief kept going long enough to get me through work the next day. That was some powerful stuff in my case.

Percoset made me puke one time. You probably need something else.

There are a lot of different pain-killers. Do what has been recommended by other posters...tell your doctor the problems you're having ask for something else. You might also ask your pharmacist for suggestions.

In order of preference:

Mild Pain

Stoned

Moderate to Severe Pain

Depression

Stoned and Depression are two different things, I would not stay on a drug that caused depression... stoned I would deal with short term instead of pain.

You should definitely get your doctor to prescribe a different pain killer.
