Secret contact list

So i'm looking through my new phone, Samsung Rant (first real phone i've ever owned...GOOD BYE NEXTEL!) and i come across this setting for contacts to set them as "secret".

Apparently it hides their information when they call etc. So, basically its so i can cheat on my g/f or wife?

Actually, I always thought it was so that if you lose your phone the numbers don't get into the wrong hands...

Was I wrong?

I never looked closely enough, I thought that secret meant they were password protected... I guess it is just for prying eyes then.

Speaking of which... has anyone ever noticed how often you see people sitting in the corners of parking lots etc talking on cell phones. I know I sometimes sit in parking lots etc, because I need to talk before going into a store etc, but do you ever wonder if some of them are there because it is a secret conversation?

I sometimes sit in my own driveway talking because I don't feel like walking into the house while I am on the phone, but that is just weird... I know my cats don't care who I am talking to. I have wondered what my neighbors think, if they see me.

Some people just value privacy. I will not talk on the phone in my house because there are others who may be peering in. I don't have anything to hide, nor do I talk about anything embarrassing or clandestine, but I just don't want anyone else here listening in.

Can't you just go in your room and close the door?

In my old neighborhood I saw people talking outside on cell phones all the time. I just assumed they didn't get good reception inside the house.

Since the majority of my calls on my Blackberry are business, that means I will be discussing healthcare or legal issues involving patients. For confidentiality, work product or HIPAA reasons, I don't want others listening into those phone calls. If I cannot talk at that time, I call them back. I don't have this same concern for personal calls.

Never, and the doors are pretty thin. Even for calls to customer service for different places (bank, Verizon, etc), I don't care to have my sisters and mom up in my business.
