IMHO
General eating and baking - dark chocolate, the more cacao the better
Chocolate bunnies at Easter - milk chocolate

milk has no place in chocolate, imo. and dark MUST be eaten while sipping a nice wine. period.

I voted "It doesn't matter" even though techically it does matter...

It all depends on my mood, and somewhat on the specific chocolate.

you should have an extra dark (or bittersweet) line...dark chocolate comes in many strengths, the more cacao the better the chocolate. I would have selected extra dark, just bought a bar listed at 82 percent cacao.

I don't understand the question; is low-quality chocolate worse than indeterminate-quality chocolate? And is either less fun than the other to eat under particular circumstances?

I don't understand how people can be snobby about the most basic things. I like milk chocolate alone. I don't care about the quality or having it with wine. It tastes good.

I prefer dark chocolate but I certainly have no problems with most milk chocolate (though I've had some that was pathetic). On the other hand, I don't really care for white chocolate at all. I've also found some dark chocolate just too bitter for me. Anything above about 70-ish seems to lean toward too bitter for my personal taste.

White chocolate is an oxymoran.

But, give me dark almost all the time with milk chocolate as the one that proves the point.

Steven

If you didn't have milk chocolate you would have no comparison to prove dark is best.

Once you have really good quality chocolate you realize that the cheap stuff tastes like wax. I don't like Hershey bars any more for this very reason.
