No hangover here... had to drive, and I didn't want to add to Austin's carnage of DWI. I saw plenty of EMS and fire vehicles, and even more police vehicles arresting drunks.

Nope. No hangover here either. I went on a ride this morning so planned accordingly last night.

Not really....
Well, I ended up kind of sleeping with a friend...so who knows what messiness might ensue.
(I hate\love it when these completely out of character things happen)

No hangover here. I've given up on trying to get drunk because I don't feel the good woozy effects and go straight to the bad hangover effects. So yeah, 3 vodka mixed drinks and a flute of champagne. Woke up just fine.

Now after new year's, on the other hand...had a late night Left 4 Dead LAN party with lots of strong tea and coffee going around. That did much more damage than a couple of drinks on new year's eve.

A woman that I'm friends with, tried to commit suicide New Years Day, while I was with her. We took a nap after watching a movie, and I awoke to her unconsious and choking on her own vomit. She had ODed on her anxiety medication. I haven't been able to speak with her yet, and I really don't know what to say when I do.

This has been the worst year ever for me.

Holy cow BoSox! Glad she didn't succeed....good luck on following up with her ...I sense you'll find the right words when the time comes.

I hope you have a better 2009.

Thanks for the positive thoughts.

She's now out of the hospital, and not answering my calls. We aren't a couple, but have been close friends since she started going through a divorce in April.

if you have her address maybe a brief card or note letting her know you care and are in her corner will encourage her to contact you if/when she's ready. This is a tough one. You want to help but best to proceed delicately...does she have friends/family or another support network?

She has a few friends(most of them are mutual friends), and her mother lives in the area.

Calling her mom to tell her what had happened was tough. She had told her mom about me before, so her mom knew that I had been helping her deal with things.

just a little update...

It seems that this was not a suicide attempt, but an accidental overdose of her anxiety medication combined with alcohol. I really hope this is exactly what happened. She has assured me that she would never try to take her life, and is very sorry to put me through this situation.

...now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

If anyone here is still hungover from New Years Day, you may want to seek medical attention.

I thought alcohol WAS an anti-anxiety medication. Glad it was accidental, at least.
