    A Day at the Range

For the first time since last spring, i finally had the time to go kill some paper targets. I had to sight in a .22 I just bought, anyway/. Well, here it is. Sighting in at 25 yards and then 100 yards, with open sights.
    25 yards, 2 groups

    100 Yards, one group.

Temperature was 14℉ with wind chills of -12, and I managed to stay mostly toasty warm.

Pardon the images, this is off the Phone's camera.

OOPS, thanks, I jotted that down at the range. It's the cell of a guy there that I plan on meeting up with to shoot with. I erased it.

Nice. I'm goin out to the range Sunday with a bunch of friends.

After I teach a first timer the safety rules and the operation of the weapons he'll be shooting, we're gonna have a speed shooting competition. I only hope it won't be as cold as it was on your trip.

I still need to move the front sight a tad to the right, it shoots about an inch to the right at 100 yards, I just got the sight elevation correct on the rear sight today. It was too cold to be tapping the sight over with a punch. Final sighting in will be this Spring. I can compensate for that little drift fairly well, and am looking forward to some rabbit for dinner in the near future.

Good shooting Tom. Just gotta bring it in a little left and you are there. I have two Ruger 10/22s that I have picked up over the years and a Bronco single shot break open. As I have gotten older I have had to put a scope on one of Rugers.

I never realized you were a fellow shooter and hunter.

Yep, I definitely hunt. Back in the Reagan Years, one winter I actually fed my wife and I with a .22, as well as our neighbors. We were all out of work and .22 is cheap.

One year a friend of mine had me come out to her 40 acres near Black Forest to thin the hoards of cotton tails that were inhabiting the spread. Brought my old single shot .22...10 shots later, ten rabbits. They were quite accustomed to humans, so it wasn't fancy shooting, kind of ashamed to admit some were as close as 3 feet away, but we wanted them for dinner.

Over the next couple days we tried cooking them every way known....fried, boiled, baked...and they we're all tough as shoe leather.

The last three had been in the fridge for 3 days. We put them a pressure cooker for 20 minutes, then on the grill for ten, coated in a little BBQ sauce. That method of cooking resulted in some of the most tender and delicious rabbit any of us had ever had, so just wondering if you have any recipes for rabbit that work out well?
