    CSI: What The Hell?

Why is the CSI building shrouded in darkness? You'd think it would be much easier to do your job if you could actually see things. I've worked in darkness before and even with dramatic lighting, it's still a PITA. Are they trying to save on electricity? What's the deal?

It's like the Combat Information Center on a ship, and that's just about the coolest place there is.

True, but Hugh Laurie pulls off such a good American accent, I can look past the ridiculousness of it..

Those crime drama shows are soap operas. Lousy ones at that. Taking them seriously is a mistake.

There's two little words shown every episode that explain everything. Why do they do things no normal person would do? How do they reconstruct an entire crime scene from a single smudged fingerprint and a small scratch on a doorlock? Where did they find all these 20-30 year old hot detectives? How come no computer seems to run an existing operating system or software? How do they make a razor sharp 8x10 englargement of a grainy security video frame with three mouse clicks when it takes me half an hour just to photoshop Timmyquest's head onto Britney Spears' body?

As I said, it's all explained in two words in the credits.

    Jerry Bruckheimer.

He caters to viewers who don't give any critical thought to their entertainment.

Did you ever see CSI:NY in its first season?. Everything was really dark, shades of gray, very little color. Seems like the producers were looking for that cool B&W look. Ratings were in the tank until they brightened up the street scenes.

CSI:Miami - Beside the low cut shirts and pimpin' suits, ever notice the females in the background? Even they're all hotties. Not many sterotypical Florida retirees in that show.

The Las Vegas crime lab is dark because the casinos have maxed out the power grid.

Heaven forbid if the blackjack players had to play in a black-out so that CSI could use more than 1 effing light to do an autopsy...

They always had those (awesome) bazillion-candlepower flashlights that illuminated the area directly in front of the flashlight, though. Like lasers with six-inch-wide, white beams.

And lamps illuminated the lampshade, and nothing more.
