100 Skills every man should know...

    So says Popular Mechanics Article.

    Take the quiz here.

Drive in the snow? Replace a fan belt? Split firewood? Run rapids in a canoe? I think I'm gonna fail...

    PS: I got 8/15

Geez, some of those are extremely inessential tasks for a huge number of people, man or woman.

If you ever own a jeep you'll need 98% of those skills.....I don't know if that's good or bad.

You'll need 98% of those skills, and in addition, you'll need to know how to fix anything on a cherokee... weekly...

11/15. But, seriously, I don't envision myself ever needing/wanting to know half of that stuff. I wonder how McGyver would do on the test, when he is not using a Milky Way to weld a leaking vat of acid...

    Correct!
    101% of players answered correctly.
I've lost confidence in this quiz.

10/15. Apparently when using power tools I know just enough to be dangerous. Seems like I've always been jumpstarting cars wrong as well.

Growing food is near impossible in NYC.

I definitely agree; every man should know how to iron a shirt, fix a toilet and be able to paint (at least for the sake of getting women to actually WANT you).

Where's the section on baking bread and knowing how to make the right cup of coffee? These are essential skills!

Push ups are good and all, but doing the perfect Hindu squat and plank (or burpees) will yield a tone body if done often enough.

It's crazy how many people don't know how to tie a tie.

If you want to kill a hard drive, just open it. If any of the platters are exposed to dust, it will cease to work (at least correctly).

Most men should also know how to add and flush coolant from their cars. I learned this the hard way!

EVERY man (and women too, but not so much) should know how to change a tire.

EVERY man (and women too, but not so much) should know how to at least add oil to a car. (Found this out the hard way too)

EVERY man should know how to socialize. In fact, I'd stress this so much, I think this should be something children should learn. It won't make them dumber, but it will help them grow up thinking critically of the environment around them and have a higher chance of having life-long friends and many girlfriends. (I learned this the hard way too.)

EVERY man should know how to drill.

EVERY man should know how to use the public transportation system around them. What kind of stupid would it be if you knew how to survive extreme heat and extreme cold, but have no idea of either taking the Q or the N to Astoria. Paying for taxis is lame.

Replace a video card? Every man should know how to ADD and REMOVE memory. This is a VERY popular request and easily the biggest performance enhancement that can be added to a computer.

I know a fair amount of those, but physical labor is not one of my strong suits.

Oh, and every man should know how to maintain their private form of transportation, at least to a basic degree. (At least to prevent an emergency without AAA from growing into a life-or-death crisis.)
