Tiger balm + teh kitteh = WTF?!?!?!

So I come home exhausted from lugging a heavy backpack all day, and teh bf gives me a backrub with tiger balm. Aaaaah, bliss. But when teh kitteh went in the room and smelled the tiger balm, he immediately proceeded to lick the stuff off my back. Wtf?!?!?!? We had to throw him out of the room because he just would not stop licking my back.

Is ingesting tiger balm ok for teh kitteh, or should we call poison control? He doesn't seem to have any adverse reactions.

Hmmm, not sure, but usually if they eat it pure it is okay. What does the bottle of tiger balm say about (human) ingestion?

LOL how funny. Maybe he likes the tingliness. I don't think there is anything in it that could hurt him.

It says "not to be taken orally," but it's nontoxic--basically just menthol, camphor, mint oil, cajuput oil, clove oil, and cassia oil. I'm not too worried, but if he starts puking I'm calling poison control.

When I saw this title I thought other Kitteh. That would certainly not be good. Call the vet and ask. Your kitteh certainly is well interesting.

Red or white? Clove? Sounds like Red. Could be worse, I suppose, at least it wasn't White Flower.

Red variety, definitely. But teh kitteh seems perfectly normal, no puking, no wooziness--just happy cat--so I think he's fine. I'm definitely not letting him do it again though.

What is it with cats (and dogs) with this oddness? Our dog does a similar thing. The Girl has to wear socks to bed to keep the dog from licking all the moisturizer off her feet. The dog will burrow under the blankets to get to her feet if she just tries to cover them up.

Why do you refer to yourself as "the dog"?

Yeah, teh kitteh was chasing me under the blanket too! The only way to stop him is to throw him out of the room, but that makes him cranky because he wants to sleep with us.
