how about red tea and chocolate?
Food for thought: if you aren't dead by 2050, you and your entire family will be within a few years from starvation. Now that is a cruel gift to leave for your offspring. ;)

I would notice tomorrow morning at 4 am when I tried to get up.

Keep those crystals handy; I'll need them for tomorrow night to help with stiff muscles.

It was weird, I actually woke up really early this morning after all that I drank last night. Of course, once I noticed that it wasn't bike riding weather outside and I thus had no reason to get up, I promptly went back to sleep.

Imagine if it did come in crystal form. Seems like it might work better than epsom salts in a bath...

I would still prefer to drink it rather than sit in it.

Bathe in the cheap (come on, it's in crystal form), while sipping the good.

I don't think that alcohol would have any medicinal properties for muscle soreness when applied externally. And it would burn like heck in any chafed areas (such as the shorts region ).

I would have to drink too much of the good stuff to make it worth while .

    Working to cause me pain?

I prefer my post race soak to be of the hot jacuzzi variety. And since I have a tub readily available in my bathroom I could very well drink vodka or similar beverages while enjoying the jets.

instead of vodka, which has impurities and gives you a hang over, how about shouchu which doesn't give hang overs and what's more, is healthy to drink, like wine

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shochu

basically it's distilled, just like vodka, but it doesn't stink like rotten potatoes and doesn't taste like the inside of a wooden barrel.

basically less/no impurities compared to vodka.

Remember, there's no shame in putting a frame pump through a competitor's spokes or legs.
