Funny as I was having a serious talk with my 15 year old daughter tonight who was wondering how you can tell when a boy likes you and admits quite readily that she is as dim as I am when it comes to perceiving the interest of the opposite sex.

I told her that I was never much into formal dating and that my relationships have been more organic where you find that you enjoy someone else's company and get to know them before anything else happens and even then... I have always been pretty dim.

When I met my wife I told her I was planning on joining a monastery and she said, "that would be such a waste".

It took me a little while for me to completely figure that out.

I also told my daughter that the boys her age were probably pretty unskilled when it came to flirting and were probably as clueless as she is...

I'm getting married and that officially takes me off the dating scenes. Does that count?

Zoo. She has to be somewhat wild and not too domesticated. You, on the other hand, should step up and be a better husband. Be thankful somebody tolerates you.

Counting the days until I go to Oregon so I can bring my wife home... finally received the permanent residency papers.

Will need someone to take over DLA.Inc although I will retain my partnership in 2RSTG.Inc

I learn something every day: up until this moment when I Googled it, I did not realize that marrying a Canadian did not automatically grant Canadian citizenship to the non-Canadian spouse.

It does not in the States either. Even getting residency is far from automatic or assured.

So now that is two things I have learned today. So does this mean that all those emails I receive from 'Russian women who want to meet you!' are not just looking for a quick US citizenship? Hmmm.

The spouse has to meet all the requirements for immigration like knowing all the words to every Rush song, has to know the difference between back bacon and everything else that claims to be bacon, has to be able to tap a maple tree for syrup, and needs to bring one cat, two sheep, and six goats.

My wife is coming here with no restrictions which means she will be able to start working immediately and will have full health care coverage... this comes from marrying a guy who has some profound disability issues and is supposed to be retired.

I always think how lucky I am in that I was 100% and when we met and she could have bailed and when we made our vows there was nothing about "in sickness or in health" but just, "I give you my forever".

Those are assumed/implied. However, you can get a waiver if the Canuck-to-be has been bitten by a mse.
