What's your first Presidental (or similar) election?

What is the first U.S. Presidential election you were eligible to vote in?

If you are from outside U.S., then the first Prime Minister or other similar election you were eligible to vote in.

For me..... Bush (senior) v. Dukakis

First eligible Presidential election was:

"2004: Bush vs Kerry" - did not vote

then:

"2008: McCain vs Obama" - did not vote

edit: scratch that, I was only 17 in 2004, so the 2008 election was the first election I could've voted in...but didn't.

That was also a major learning experience for me as it was the first time I became aware of other people my age in my area who were polar opposites to my perspective politically. Naive, I know, but I needed to grow up (I was 19)

A more interesting question was what was the first election where you voted for the winning side.

Me: never.

I most definitely didn't vote for the winning Conservative side in my student days, and by the time that party got booted out I was living abroad and somehow managed to lose my vote.

I was of age to vote in 1984 (I made voting age in 1981) for Reagan vs Mondale. However I didn't register to vote until 1988 for Bush Sr. vs Dukakis. I registered in hopes of that 2 term limit being repealed.
