Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

I didn't take loads of photos before I went digital. I liked taking pictures, and I think I picked up some of my mom's artistic eye.
But, I didn't like buying film, getting it developed, and finding a place to keep it. Now that I think about it, I also didn't like having to choose between shooting slides or prints. It was all so restrictive -- I had to pick and choose every single shot, and if I wanted to show them off, I had to dig them out of wherever I stored them.
Since getting my first digital camera back in '01, I've shot thousands of pics. Thousands. I've got nearly 10,000 on my computer -- and I know that plenty of people have multitudes beyond what I've got. I can post them online, show them on my iPhone, or do slideshows on TV. I can try ten different shots of the same subject without thinking that I'm probably wasting money on nine of them. I can shoot short video clips without fumbling for the Super8 movie camera that we used to have.
However, one of my sister's favorite birthday presents was a photo book that I laid out in iPhoto and had printed & mailed to her. I don't think that homemade printed photography is ever going to disappear.
