Accountants: A quick (and easy) tax question

I'm trying to do my taxes on H&R Block (free federal filing dealy)

I didn't receive the stimulus package because at the time i was a dependent. I'm not a dependent this year.

H&R Block is trying to tell me that i'm owed a $300 tax credit because i didn't receive the stimulus package, but what they haven't asked me is why i didn't get it (because i wasn't eligible).

My gut is telling me that i'm not eligible for this $300 credit but it wants to send me the money anyways...Am i wrong about this? Do i get the credit?

Classic.

Do you ask for free fittings at your LBS also and then go by bikes online?

Anyway, yes you are eligible for the credit.

The credit is an 08 credit, but they used your 2007 tax filing status (the latest info they had about you) to pay the credit in the summer.

I made less than $7,000 this year. In the event that i got my taxes wrong, if the IRS wants to audit that they can go right ahead

If you want, i'll send you a few bucks in the mail though...

H&R Block sucks! A CPA and tax-attourney team is worth their weight in gold.

Well... I know numerous people that got screwed by H&R. One couple got audited by the IRS after filing their returns prepared by H&R. The IRS found out during the audit that they actually overpaid their taxes and were issued a bigger refund than what H&R had done.
