Yay, more snow and ice

The grocery store is sold out of milk, eggs, and bread

The lines run 1/4 mile down the road from the gas station

School has already been canceled for tomorrow

The media hype artists are touting this as a "dangerous" and "potentially life-threatening storm"

Everyone is being advised to stay in their homes and don't come out under any circumstances

....

Have we really become such a nation of ninnies that we're afraid of a little snow? Sheesh...

we had a killer storm... well not really us, the Quebecers, that downed several power lines and people froze to death in their houses.
this was several years ago. The mayor called the army reserves to dig us out.

basically the power lines got caked with ice until they toppled.

^^ yikes... well, I think it's safe to say that 1 to 3 inches in southeastern PA is not going to lead to anyone freezing to death in their homes.

You'd think with traction control and ABS, people would be more capable of dealing with a little snow and ice than they were 30 years ago. NOT. Unfortunately reduced skills and overconfidence more than compensate for advances in technology.

with significant snow, your car gets stuck, and anyone caught outside when that happens better have a survival kit.

have to keep the engine going on and off, have to get outside to clean out the exhaust, have to leave the window slightly down to keep the car from filling up with CO and have to have blankets to keep warm. etc.

My Cervelo isn't even shipping until Friday. Today was 11 straight days on the road bike. I am pumped on endorphins, and considering how fat I am, and how cold it is, I'm climbing like a friggin scalded squirrel, and that's on my heavy bike.

Let it friggin snow. When March/April comes and I'm 5 lbs lighter and on my new faster bike you are all totally and utterly F'd.

Snow not scary. Freezing rain, on the other hand.

Today in Maine we're getting 16 inches of snow. I'm no ninny. When I was growing up, storms like this came often so I'm used to it.

BRING IT ON!

When I was growing up, 16" would be a 1-hour delay, giving them time to put the chains on the school buses...

heh...
