Thunderstorms and tornados. Growing up in Oklahoma and North Texas, this was not a good thing to be scared off.

Federal budget deficits, wasteful government spending and clowns. Clowns are just over the top friggin creepy, and nothing will change that.

That's actually a home movie of me as a baby by the way. I was rather precocious.

My grandfather- he enjoyed torturing his grandchildren with wild stories including his "child eating" leather recliner.

I was afraid of warewolfes, vampires, ghosts, and psycho-killer-types like Jason, Freddy, and Myers.

The Movie "The Thing" really messed me up. I remembering watching it when we first got HBO. I slept with the Bible under my pillow. A lot of good that would have done.

I saw an episode of Doctor Who when a spider thing jumped on the Doctor's face. Yeah. Uncool.

Oh yeah, and these.

From the 1st day I saw Doctor Who it was (and still is) my favorite show.

Of course....I didn't stumble across it until I was about 13 or 14.

- As mentioned in that movie thread, Labyrinth gave me nightmares for weeks.
- A perceived threat of alien abductions
- Not clowns so much as Harlequins (not the books). I don't know where this came from.
- Chernobyl (I had recurring nightmares about this)
- Air pollution
- Drugs of all kinds, even images suggesting drugs or drug use
- The IRA
- Downtown/urban areas, particularly New York
- Michael Dukakis (I don't know why, but every time I saw a picture of him I held my breath, based on the superstition that that's what you do when you go by a cemetery)

In retrospect, I was way too tuned in to the news

The Dark Crystal. And it's not the bad guys that scare me, it's the "loveable" heros:

I had many nightmares as a child as a result of these two. I bought the movie a couple of years ago to overcome my fear of it, and it kind of worked. But not completely.
