You know you're going broke when...

In these current hard times, what crazy or, well, interesting things are you doing to survive?

Bank robbery is working well in Albuquerque.

And no, I did not do it.

I've had to cut back to using a pedestrian sparkling white wine instead of genuine French champagne for my daily bath.

I only roll my hand made cigarettes of imported South American tobacco with $50 bills instead of $100 bills.

you find yourself eating canned foods for meals that you've set aside because you didn't like very much the first time you tried them.

I'm doing that now but I haven't resorted to eating pet food.

I'm working on a deal with the bikeforums advertisers where I get a nickel every time somebody in the P&R forum makes a dumb comment.

I'm up to about $500 from the start of the program, which was 5 hours ago.

I've pretty much stopped eating out except for special occasions, I've been driving a lot less, spending no money on frivolous things. I've shifted most of that trivial spending to trying to keep my business going, as that has dried up significantly this year.

I'm also trying to keep my mind off of the tough times by doing more volunteer and charitable work, and picking up new skills to make myself more marketable to hopefully find a higher-paying "real job."

When I have to drink cheap vodka instead of decent bourbon.

Ok, so I would stock my cabinet with the cheap vodka anyway.

You have to cancel your Citigroup $50 million Dassault corporate jet order after the new Secretary of the Treasury reminds you the timing may be bad considering the $100 billion+ federal handout and all. It's brutal.

Mmmm. Meatloaf.

I don't go out to eat, I don't go spend money on things like movies and such. I'm ditching the full size truck to drive the mini truck (although sometimes I think I get better mileage on the big truck).

I've resorted to "college food" - one dish meals.

I don't buy clothes.....(well, I bought a jacket this winter). Sometimes I used a jacket when I go to bed.

Coupons. Gotta use coupons and only buy food if it's on sale.

Citigroup did have to pay a multi-million $ penalty for breaking the contract, but they will get the money refunded if and when Dassault finds an alternate buyer for the aircraft.

I thought that was if they did, not a done deal.

Is there a penalty if you cancel your Cervelo contract too?

I had to shut down my ponzi scheme due to lack of new investment.

I am getting new MTB wheels built with CK hubs instead of I9's

me too....even have a small hydroponic garden I built this past fall.....it has mustard greens and lettuce in it right now....soon will have tomatoes and peppers in it too.
Thinking of making a PVC aquaponic system to grow some strawberries.....shouldn't be very expensive.

already done.....have 6 tomatoe plants (2 brandy wine, 2 roma, and 2 Beefsteak) that are setting their second set of leaves, and 3 pepper plants (1 jalepeno, 1 habenero, and 1 bell pepper) I started in Dec....and have potted. They are currently growing in my sun room. Will be transplanting in late march I think.
