Has anyone had their car in a movie?

My 1980 El Camino Royal Knight can be seen several times in the first 15 minutes of Robo Cop. It is dark blue with electric blue stripes and black windows. I no longer own the car, but did when it was in the movie. Robo Cop was filmed in Dallas and when the call was put out for "futuristic" looking cars, a friend of mine in the business thought my El Camino would fit the bill. It did.

I had a friend who's 60 Chevy Nomad was in the Tom Hank's movie called "That Thing You Do" about the one-hit-wonder pop band. Some of the outdoor small town street scenes were filmed near the historic traffic circle in Orange, California (the storefronts are right out of the 1960s). The producers (not Tom Hanks) came down to a donut shop where a cruiser car club meets evey Saturday morning in Huntington Beach, CA. and recruited about 30 guys with nicely restored Chevys, Fords, etc to be in the movie. He got $350/day for "rent", and they used his car for about 10 days. Nice pay if you can get it.

My dad's '62 GMC truck was in a movie a few years ago. You could call it a sleeper, as it doesn't look like a typical restored car, but it sure as hell doesn't sound like a sleeper.

That's awesome about jsharr's El Camino - and thanks, x, for putting up the photo.

You can see the car of a friend of mine in the background in Wayne's World 2 -- I think it's the scene outside the church. Some sort of blue jalopy in a parking lot, I think maybe with the bumper askew. Don't have the movie, so can't check...

Hey, if we're talking friends in movies, one of my buddies from high school had two lines in a movie with Christian Slater. Don't remember the title. He was also a fireman for one day on Days of Our Lives. Now he sells pharmaceuticals.

The car you own was featured in the movie, or there were Eagles in the movie?

No problem. As soon as I read the post, I had to walk over to the DVD rack to try to prove you wrong...

Does a dashboard mounted camera in a squad car count?

If the footage was used in COPS: The Movie, then yes.

They were shooting a Silverster Stalone movie in PR once, and there was a car chasing scene, right there on my street. This was in Miramar, San Juan. They politely asked my to remove my old Honda from the street...

Hey, you've had a car specifically not in a movie. That's something!

I'm waiting to see myself on my bicycle in some movie. A camera crew hanging out the back of a van was shooting a dark blue sedan on 1st in Nashville when they passed me. Black bike, red jersey, let me know when I'm famous.
