Anyone know anything about birds?

We had a strange occurrence yesterday. Here in Indiana, we just had a swarm of Robins. Now, Robins don't normally show up this early around here, and we had a HUGE flock of them. It's January still.....

There must have been 500 Robins in this flock, by the way, and they literally filled the trees in the Apartment complex. Any theories as to why the early showup of the flock?

Had the same thing here, a couple weeks back, only they were blackbirds/crows. Weird.

Last week, we had a flock of Geese flying south as well....might even be the same flock, since we're on the same flyway route for game birds. Maybe they figured out the dates of hunting season for geese this year? There weren't any of ther normal huge flocks flying during the official season, they were all hanging around the open water of the lakes, etc. maybe it's just because the lakes finally froze over, here in Indiana and the rest of the Midwest.

Sadly, the bird that I always see is a single digit on a upraised hand.

Shoot.... A couple weeks ago a flock of geese flew right into a jet engine. Now that's an odd migration pattern.
