geico

just curious- who uses them? who's happy with them?

I've always had state farm, been through some crap that I really depended on them for, and always come out on top. I'd like to switch to geico and say "I just saved a ton of money!"

seriously, though.. just wondering what you all think.

I don't like their caveman commercials. Too many people recognize me.

I've never seen the caveman commercials, but their otherwise obnoxious, carpet-bombing-style advertising would prevent me from even considering them as a possible insurer.

I've been with State Farm for over 15 years. They have all of my insurance. Home Owners, Auto, Flood, personal effects policy and General Liability.

I've had several quotes from Geico on my Car & Truck Insurance. They were more than 30% higher than State Farm.

I got a quote from Geico and their rate was 50% higher than Progressive. All they have is good commercials.

I use them. When I totaled my minivan a few years ago right before Christmas which I had full coverage on, they handed me a check in 3 days. They ended up giving me more then I payed for my van, even after my deductible. So I'm pretty pleased with them.

I've been very comfortable with state farm. I'm interested to see what Geico could get me, it may not be worth it.

One thing to remember about all insurance companies.

They are not in business to pay claims. They are in business to collect premiums.

They must've come about after I gave up on TV a few years back. Last ones I saw were with the stupid lizard. All of the billboards and other static advertising I see for the company still seem to feature the lizard.

I personally haven't been able to get other insurance companies to match the rates I get with Geico. It has been a few years since I shopped. I pay about 1200 buck a year for 3 vehicles, one of them with full coverage and the other 2 with liability.

I'm pretty sure my dad has everything through State Farm (house, car, etc), and they've been pretty good to him. Granted, anecdote and not data, but that's all I have.

[edit: On second thought, it might be Farmers. I'm not sure now.]

my one vehicle alone costs me $1200 a year.

but, I don't get my old age discount for a few months, yet.

I've been with State Farm for 18 years. They have never left me high and dry when I needed them. Even when I got hit by a car on my bike, they paid all of my claims for the damage under my homeowners and subrogated against the at-fault party. They didn't have to do that for me at all, but they did.

They've never once even hinted that they were going to try to avoid paying a claim. I am sure they are a bit more expensive than some others might be, but "you get what you pay for" is a rule, not a theory.

To be honest my vehicles aren't really worth all that either. But they run great and I own them.

1. 86 Ford Bronco
2. 96 Dodge RAM B1500 van
3. 2002 Saturn car

I think a couple of things help me.

1. I drive about 15K miles a year
2. I live in a rural town and work in rural town
3. The only claim I have is when a ditch jumped out and hit me

Someone suing you would love to know exactly how much to sue for.

If someone were suing me, they would have the right to know what my protections are. It's not something you can hide.

I have an '07 vehicle

I also drive under 15k and (no longer) have accidents on the record.

however, I enjoy being fully covered with a low deductible, under/uninsured coverage, roadside, rental... the works. other people are stupid, and sometimes so am i.

been with them since my son started driving at 16.

for a 2002 honda accord and 2001 mazda 626 my 6th month premium is only $780. it's gradually come down since the initial premium of $1150/6mo.
