How do you procrastinate?

I know you do, we all do. You can admit it, there's no shame.
But how exactly do you procrastinate? watch TV reruns? read a book? mindlessly window shop online stores?

me, I read comic books and watch internet TV.

I forgot to add BF. BF must be one of the biggest time wasters I have bookmarked.

Let's see. There's BF and Facebook and Hotmail and YouTube and telephones and email and ....

Which might explain why, at 942am I have yet to do anything that even vaguely resembles work even though I got into the office at around 830.

There's always one more thing that needs to be done before I complete a task that isn't task-related.

That "one more thing" can completely shatter any time management policies I've set in place.

Justification.

It's much easier when you're a perfectionist: just wait until you have everything you need to complete the project to your high standards...and that never happens.

You just described my elder brother perfectly.
The man will let an entire barn full of goods rot into the ground because he doesn't like the tint of the cleanup rags.

It was actually a conversation I had with my Dad this weekend.

We were hanging drywall in his soon-to-be art studio and discussing his projects, such as his restoration of a 1953 GMC pickup that has sat in a storage yard for 6 years now. At least he admits to it.

I'm honestly just as bad with my own personal projects, but too many years of having to meet construction deadlines does help me push past the perfectionism and just get the job done. If I'd just think about it...even the rush jobs came out pretty nice.

I'm taking charge of the art studio project since it's well within my milieu...and because my Pop is going to CA for 6 months or more for a consulting job. He won't be able to make excuses if I finish it while he's gone.

I think I've seen this one before but it's certainly worth repeating:

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Here are this year's winners. Read them carefully. Each is an artificial word with only one letter altered from a real word. Some are terrifically innovative:

1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people, that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The Bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

4. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.

5. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

6. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

7. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

8. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.

9. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

10. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.

11. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

12. Glibido: All talk and no action

13. Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

14. Arachnoleptic Fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web

15. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out .

16. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating.

And, the pick of the lot...

17. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an *******.

Yep, TF2, slacking off at the coffee shop, wikipedia, etc. I need to be working on statistics homework right now. I don't want to even think about it.

Easy. Take what you're supposed to be doing, and do something else instead.

Do a search next time. There are plenty of threads about this very subject.

This is like some weird quiz where we all already know the answer.

I've caught a crazy blast of productivity and haven't been on BF too much recently, but look for me to resume slacking shortly!
