Tossing Your Butts (Don't Get Excited)

Driving to work and the guy in front of me throws his cigarette out the window; not unusual, it happens all the time.

I wasn't anywhere close to tailgating, but the butt bounces and the wind gets it and the butt goes right into the grill of my car and my HVAC sucks it in.

5 hours later, and it still smells like a lit cigarette in my car.

I don't think I need to say any more...

You need to mount a .50 cal machine gun on your hood. When you see someone toss a butt out, light em up.

State of Texas has a website you can log into and report littering automobiles. They cannot fine the offender, but they send them a letter and a trash bag for their car.

http://www.dontmesswithtexas.org/report-a-litterer.php

Your state might offer the same type of thing.

That's just insanely rude. I hate that!

I had a guy throw a butt out once and the wind caught it and the damn thing landed right on my windshield and got caught in my windshield wiper blade. Aaargggghh!

That's cool. I just checked, Washington does have something similar, but they just send a letter explaining the litter laws.

I've used it before. I need to get that site on my iPhone so I can do it when I see it happen (of course, I'll have my wife report it while I drive).

I swear, if I ever get the opportunity (red light, etc), I will pick up whatever trash the litterer just threw out the window and politely hand it back to him. "Oops. You dropped this."

I was just stepping off the curb to do it once and the light turned green. He got away.

It remains my dream in life.

I used to field strip mine when I was a smoker. I find the thought of leaving butts on the ground anathema! It looks like hell!

I want to bum a cigarette off of someone then dispose of it right in front of them.

I don't want to just toss it in a garbage can because they could get it and use it, and stepping on it would be littering, and tearing it up and throwing it away would make my fingers smell, so maybe I could throw it in a near-empty drink container and toss that. Problem is that I rarely buy drinks.

I had a co-worker that often would get out of his car at lights and throw cigarettes back into the car that threw them out. I had a female co-worker that followed a guy all the way home after he threw a butt out and it landed on her hood.

I think in both cases the offender is so stunned they didn't react.

When I was much younger, 16-ish and driving, a lady threw her butt out and it landed on the car I was driving. I coaxed her into the shoulder and told her to pick it up. When she wouldn't, I blocked her for a long time and made her drive down the road behind me at 10 mph for a while until she finally turned into a parking lot. This was before cell phones. Of course at the time I thought I was saving the world, but now I can't believe I did such a thing. I was a hot-headed teen, I guess.

It isn't that hard to pinch out your butts and put the filter back in the pack. That's what I did, when I still smoked.

coke can in the center console. I just put all the butts in there and threw it away and replaced it daily.

I've seen smokers throw their butts on the ground next to a trash can or outside ashtray.
