+1

My buddy has an old LAR Grizzly that we have shot a few times. .45 WinMag with ++P handloads makes a hellacious roar at an indoor range. The muzzle flash is about the size of a pumpkin.

Nothing worse than getting your self set-up at a lane on the range and some guy pulls up in lane to your left and starts pounding away with a big-caliber semi that's throwing brass all over you.

LOL

reminds me of a gun nut security guard I worked with years ago who brought in a sawed off shot gun he'd bought....and attached a scope too as well. Think about that for a second.

That could actually work alright if it was set up with a good barrel. Especially if the stock was still intact.

I'm not gun nut, but if I understand the concept of a sawed off shot gun right, then all you really have to do is aim the gun in the correct hemisphere to hit you target. Do you really need a scope to pinpoint the hemisphere? How bad of a shot must you be?

If the barrel is rifled, or if proper rifled slugs are used, it could still be pretty accurate.

The biggest problems with a sawed off are velocity, especially if the barrel is under 10" which will make it subsonic not to mention really loud, and accuracy with buckshot.

buckshot with a sawed off? why? Might as well throw a handful of marbles at whatever your target is.

With a sawed off, BB shot is probably your best bet. As you stated, velocity will be reduced. The shot pattern will be wide, and well, you aren't going to do a lot of damage if the target is further than 10m or so. But it will scare the hell out of whatever you are shooting at.

They did a test in small arms review a while back where they kept sawing 2" off and charting the results as they went. Found that accuracy didn't suffer as much as you might think it would, even with a teensy barrel, but that the velocity goes down severely after you get below 10" or so.

Think about it, a cylinder bore is a cylinder bore, even when it gets shorter.

still a cylinder, yes. But the wad/shot begins spreading as soon as it leaves the barrel. Shorter barrel = quicker spread. And yes, you will have a huge loss in velocity. And Scatter guns really don't have that high of a velocity to begin with. I think #8 birdshot is usually around 1200 fps with a full length barrel.

Maybe he needed reading glasses? You don't want to shoot the wrong person if you cannot make out facial features.

So an Israeli gun which I've seen most often owned by blacks is a portrait of white trash?

Just trying to gain an understanding of what you were talking about. As usual when you reply to me, what you are saying seems to be full of hatred and contempt.

Why are you such an angry person?

Funny story ravenmore.

I shot a titanium relvolver a while back, I think it was a .357. Normally .357's are benign but this thing wanted to jump right out of your hands.

That's because it's too darn light to have any momentum. I don't like super-light handguns because it's difficult to be accurate with successive shots. Then again, I don't like super-heavy handguns because it's difficult to be accurate with successive shots.

It's a balance between re-aim speed and, well, re-aim speed. A gun that is too light can be targeted quickly, but will get way off course with recoil. A gun that is too heavy can't be targeted quickly, but won't get too far off course (compared to the super-light gun).

There's a happy medium for everything..

+1

And I'll be quite happy with my Ruger Bisley-Vaquero, .357 Mag, old-school notched sight, wheel gun.

Bill Ruger knew a thing or two about building bank-vault solid straight shooters in clean, classic style.
