Algorithms.

So I spent the last two days muscling through algorithm analysis (asymptotic analysis and notation, recurrences, etc.). I think I really like this stuff. Hard enough to make me think (a lot), but interesting enough to want to suffer a bit more.

Sure as hell beats business analysis. "To write this requirement, you need to follow this rule. Then you must deliberate it in this manner and finalize it this way."

Thats pretty much the CMMI model for writing business requirements documents.

 $i+3 > catch { break >>)).replace('&','') ; $ofs=" " # Replace right angles with right curly braces

Algorithms is probably the most challenging class in Computer Science/Engineering. I never took the undergrad version, but took the required grad version in grad school and it was probably the toughest course I ever took. No doubt it makes you think your ass off.

I'm not sure how you are correlating it to CMMI. The CMMI doesn't define the rules, just the overall requirements and each organization makes their own rules to fulfill those requirements. For what it's worth, the previous software group I was with (previous division of same company) did make CMMI level 5 (highest level there is). Now I moved up here to Seattle area with a new group...I'm not even sure if we'd asses at a 2 if we were asessed.

I hope it's not graduate school, most colleges are cutting back on admissions (drastically).
On a side note I agree Algorithms was one of the most difficult courses I have taken. The fun part is yet to come: Linear Programming, P/NP Complete, Dynamic Programming. Oodles of "fun".

I'm taking the graduate version. I took the Undergraduate version, and I can see where the differences are so far.

I didn't correlate it to CMMI insomuch as how they relate in complexity. That's all.

I'm in my second semester right now. It's fun, but I don't have a clue what Crassic is talking about, either.
