Were we ever friends?

So my sister sends my an email from Facebook, asking me to joing and check out her profile. I not into the Facebook thing, but I don't really talk to my sister that much, so I join.
Well I start getting emails from people I went to high school with asking to add me to their friends list. The thing is, I was never even friends with them to begin with. I graduated HS in 1985, and I still keep in touch with my real friends, I have no desire to catch up with these people.

The term friend on facebook doesn't mean a true friend, if it did, facebook wouldn't exist.

Don't take it personally, but they probably don't give a rat's *** aboutyou anyways. You went to the same school and they know you by association. Get over yourself.

I've accepted a few friendship requests from many yrs back that I could have taken or left; we;ve had essentially no contact on there so I am guessing they were just snooping. I admit I've occasionally searched on there for old ghosts....but never really reached out to any. Like you say in most cases we'd have stayed in touch if it really mattered.

Then again, never say never. Things change.

Sometimes you'll find that the years have given you more in common with some who weren't your friends and less in common with some who were your friends.

If I wanted true friends I wouldn't eat my spaghetti with a fork. I'm not sure what that means but you get the jest of it. Or not.

True
what I kind of like is how friends from different phases of your life all converge in one place. Kind of like a Time machine where you can invite your various worlds to the same party. trippy.

I won't do facebook. Sometimes I get requests from people I hardly know because facebook data-mined their email address book and sent out mass join requests. I know this is true because even listserv emails get friend requests.

Could be. Although the guy who I talked to claimed it was done without his knowledge or permission. Perhaps it was just computer inexperience. Like I said, I don't do facebook, so I would not know the details of how their system works.
