Goin to Vegas

The wifey and I are headed to Vegas for a few days next week. Neither of us have been there before, so I'm looking for ideas for thing that we should do while we are there. Also, things that we shouldn't miss. Thanks in advance Foo!

Carousel Bar on the strip. Down by the Flamingo(?). Anyway, can't miss it, always a great live band. Crepes at the Parisian. For breakfast. Oh yeah. Fremont Street at night. Tunes, show on the covered street and deep fried twinkies and oreos. I'm sure I'll think of more.

The fountains outside Bellagio at night. Any of the Cirque du Soliel shows. Have seen Mystere and O!, and both were incredible. The Forum shops at Caesars. The roller coaster at NY, NY. The car museum at The Imperial Palace. (Our concierge got us passes for this) Vegas is a fun place just to go from property to property and see the sights.

When you are ready for a drink, stop and do a bit of gambling and get a waitress to bring you one.

Last time I went I found a web site that had a whole bunch of coupons. half price for this and that 2 for 1.

I didn't save the site but I'm sure you can goggle it.

I did see Bite half price, it was pretty good if you like old Rock and Roll songs (and naked women). Also Tony and Tina's weeding, okay but not a must see.

If you just want to see a show for th sake of seeing a show and not really care what it is visit the half off booth (there are three on the strip). You can get tickets for half price but it will be for that night.

I went to Vegas once....once.
The only thing I liked about it was the fact that my wife won $700.00.

Take a ride out to Red Rock on the west side of town. I think it's $5 for cars,$2 for motorcycles, and bikes are free. I went out there yesterday as part a ride, and it was beautiful.

There will be slimy-looking men at street corners with brochures listing various "services" and their prices. Do not touch the brochures or anything in the near vicinity of the men unless you are wearing gloves or other hand protection.

Your two options. Spend the entire time in the red rocks, or spend the entire time drunk. Seriously. Why the hell would anyone want to spend any time in Vegas. That place is evil beyond all comprehension.

Well, she's been bugging me to go for a looong time. This is our third kid thats coming, we haven't gone anywhere since Montreal waaaaay back in 2002. If we don't go anywhere now, it'll be awhile before we're able to go anywhere. I didn't really want to go, but an unhappy pregnant wife is something I don't like dealing with. Still, I think we will have a good time. I'm looking forward to some time alone with her.

Thanks for all the recomends, Foo. Definatly want to check out Red Rock west...looks beautiful!

If it's Vegas or stay home for another 6 years, I'd stay home. There are so many places that are not ****holes, I still don't understand why anyone would want to go there purposely.

Some of us like to be around other humans in a festive locale.

Do you also have a 10 acre lake with an animated multi nozzle choreographed fountain?

Art work by some of masters old and new on public display

NY, Venice, Paris, and other locales to stroll through at your leisure.

Incredible landscapes and structures like Redrocks and the Hoover dam within easy driving or cycling distance?

World class dining, dancing and stage shows too numerous to list?

Hordes of adult humans with recreation on their minds surrounding you?

An under abundance of children to interfere with your recreation?

There is much to be said of Vegas, and like anyplace else, it is what you make it.

I have visited it three times and have enjoyed each and every trip. My wife and I do not go there to gamble. We have a nice dinner, go see a show, do some shopping, spend time alone together, and place the odd bet at the roulette wheel or drop the odd coin in a slot. Bet we have not gambled more that $250 total in our three trips there.

To each his own. Enjoy your beer and a *****, I will be out in Vegas seeing the sites, having a nice meal and letting the artisans at Cirque Du Soliel blow my mind.

Ciao Baby!

oops, I think I struck a nerve...

It's true, I have yet to see Cirque Du Soliel or the Blue Man Group, both I hear are amazing. It's the fakeness of everything that I can't get over. Everything there is just pretend, and all the people are like that, too... It's a weird feeling for me, but I suppose there are other ways to look at it....
