Old stuff that still haunts us to this day.

Technology wise.
They're nearly gone all together, but some of them still live to this day, and they're kinda annoying to top it off. They might as well go down in history, but they are still haunting us to this day.

1: bank notes/checks
2: fax machine

A number of my clients pay by check. I like it.

Faxes are great, too. Perfect way to get licensing information to state boards (like of massage therapy... )

That's AEO's point....you shouldn't have to use such antiquated technology to get license information. A scan and an email or other electronic look up ought to be fine....if they would only get with the times.

you do realize there are retrogrouches out here who still like to write letters with fountain pens and wind mechanical watches and dial rotary phones and reach down to shift and take months (if not years) to break in that Brooks saddle/Rawlings Heart of the Hide/Levis 501 shrink-to-fit/Schott Perecto/filofax/luggage/reading chair/cordovan shoe etc etc etc

was that a snobby reply?

The issue with scanning to email is that it is not nearly as convenient as a fax machine. The best tech, not the newest, wins.

I was thinking of items that are not lovable.

harley davidson do they still use undersized engines compared to the actual rating?

How in the world is it not? It's pretty much the same steps. Even better...most work copiers now can scan and email an item directly. And as far as home users go, I'll wager there are more people with a scanner and a computer with internet access than there are people with fax machines at home.

No, I mean to send in my information to the state board of massage therapy. Gets them my information, including certificates for continuing education, so they can renew my license a couple days before it expires on the 27th...

Don't say that too loudly around here. Half the guys in my department/work area ride Harleys and are complete Harley fanatics.

I still don't understand why this wouldn't be something that could be done just as easy or easier by email. If its documents, then scan and email. THEY should get with the times to be able to accept the info that way.

the difference between those and a fax machine is that a fax machine was made in the era of 'clunky and ugly' styles.

oh, late 1980... just ugly electronics from that era.

AEO....I'm right there with you. I started a thread a long time ago titled "old is not equal to better" or something like that. I can't find it now.....but you'll see I started it almost the same way as this one and got almost the same responses. I can't believe how many retro grouches are on here.

yeah, the search is broken. it doesn't actually look at anything and instead gives you a fart in the face of whatever is newest.
