mileage--low/high slow/fast--how many per week

Out of curiosity I started watching my daily and weekly
mileage and speed. Put a Cat-eye computer thing on my
single speed. It turns out that, counting rides on rollers
and commuting I do about 70 miles per week. Average
speed (at 74 gear inches) is 14 miles and max is like
32. Slow. Some people do that on a Saturday.
Anyone wanna share their mileage/speed?

Whoops. I didn't really read what was required. I've averaged 150km per week this year. Fairly lame I know.

I have ridden my road bicycle approximately 50,000 miles since I resumed cycling in April of 2005. My training rides around here (hilly, windy) average 15-18 mph. My races average 23-26 mph. So it goes.

training rides for me can be short (15mi or so) or fairly long (up to 60-70mi). the shorter distances usually occur when i do intervals. longer distances are usually on the weekends. pace is 16-19mph, again depending on what i'm doing.

so, right now, this time of year, i'm getting around 120-130mi/wk, but expect that to increase to the 175+ mi/wk once i start riding more after work. oh yea, the terrain here in NC where i'm at is pretty flat. i've done a century that has only around 1100' total climbing.

What is a thread about cycling doing in Foo?

I do about 10k miles per year, give or take. I quit using computers a few years ago, so it might be more or less.

My fitness goal is 100 miles per week, and a good week is 130+. Almost all my miles are commuting, about 13 miles each way, and I average 14mph with red lights and stop signs, riding more like 15-18mph.

So far this month I've ridden 259.85 miles with an avg. speed of 15.662. That's been 10 rides. So I'm averaging 25.985 miles per ride.

Calendar year to date, 1431.78 miles, avg of 16.731. So March has been slow.

Some of those are with my 7yo, and we don't ride that far or that fast.

I average ~135-150 miles/week throughout the year (obviously higher in the summer, lower in the winter) and have for the past 3 years or so.

The only time I paid attention to speed averaged over the year was last year, when it came out to a paltry 15.7mph average. (A lot of commuting in there, he says defensively.) So I'm not gonna bother keeping track of speed/time anymore!

Interesting numbers.
I guess I wanted to hear about Fooster mileage
as the Foo are a good cross-section of cycling
with all kinds of cyclists.

I ride 150-200 miles a week and a normal average speed is 17-18mph. Some of my rides are quite hilly, last Wednesday I took a short ride into the wind, with a lot of climbing(23.88 miles 3055ft elevation gained) and only averaged 13.2mph. The week before I did one of 80.82miles with 4356ft of elevation gained and averaged 17.6 mph. The week before that I did a 58.61mile ride with 3658ft of elevation gained and averaged 19.5mph.

It's hard to say what speed I average, because the length of ride and elevation gain varies greatly.

Currently I ride outside on the weekends and do a couple of spin classes during the week. I'm doing 100 miles/week more or less, depending on how many spin classes I take. That will increase to 150 - 200 per week when I start riding to work in another month.

My last 2 outdoor rides were both 75 miles, I averaged 15.7 mph, 36 mph max (because there was a downhill - I can't go that fast on the flats!)

Last year at one point I was doing over 600Mi a month with an average of 14mph... I could easily sprint to 20mph without getting out of the saddle on leveled terrain and I could maintain the 14mph average even when hauling the baby trailer with my 2yo daughter in it...

Now is more like 20Mi a month with a 10Mph average mostly because:

1) Recent back surgery got me out of commission for a while.
2) It was darn cold.
3) I'm back in college and have less free time.
4) I'm a procrastinator and a slacker.

Note: The above excuses are not in order

I just started keeping track last year. I hope to double my mileage this year, which shouldn't be too hard, since i was a wussy last year.

I think I avg about 10 mph on my commutes (lots of traffic lights), and about 15 mph out in the country on weekends (lots of excess baggage)

Oh my avg commute speed is around 30mph once you subtract out the slowing down for lights, speeding up after lights, mile or so w/ my 7 yr old at his pace, and also the climbing parts. And the flats.

what a novel experience; posting about cycling in foo

I am only a weekend rider. I do 2 rides each weekend totalling c100 miles split between one hard effort of 30 miles and a 70 miles next day. as the weather is good now, i plan to increase the short one to 50 this week and get the longer one up to 100 next month.

So far this year, 831 km / 516 miles (of which 523 km / 325 miles are mainly short through-the-city commutes so far) at a combined average speed of 23.95 km/h / 14.9 mph.

My first version of my bike statistics Excel sheet added all the average speeds together instead of averaging them...

I do anywhere from 10-300 miles a week, generally at around 18-20mph average.
