how to attract kitties

i've noticed 5 cats wander through my garden but none of them ever stay and hang out. they come in swagger along the path and leave. I've put out premium cat food and they just sniff, pull a snooty arrogant face and walk away as if to say "you expect me to eat this crap?" They seem quite happy to laze around next door.

what other temptations should i put their way and when? And what time of day do your cats go prowling?

Dude, you too??? The no sleep part, not the loving MV part (finals and papers are over yaaaaaaay!!!)

Best way to attract kitties is canned fish (brined version is best), or the dry kitty treats which many cat owners call kitteh crack.

Congrats on the finals.
Yeah I had to be up all night last night and today either the phone wouldn't stop blowing up or people would stop by, so I gave up on even trying to sleep.

According to x136...all you need is a bike and a camera.

You can just leave the semi-empty cans out. The kitties will lap up the parts you can't get out with your fork.

As for treats, I buy the Whisker Lickin's Dreamy Duo treats in salmon and tuna flavor. Comes in a ziploc bag or sealed canister, so no icky smells. I can get teh kitteh to do anything for these.

Right now I'm trying to decide on whether to fix the rear brakes on the new mixte, or sleep the rest of the day away and just leave it to be fixed by my LBS on the weekend. Hmmmm...zzzzzzzzzz

what makes you think i don't already lap up the bits myself? i'll leave a bit in the can in future and sprinkle some treats in it. then i will leave the cans littered around my bikes.

i've started putting breadcrumbs out to attract birds which might attract the cats. i hope attracting cats won't attract bigger animals up the food chain. i don't want to come home to find a crocodile on the lawn.

if all this doesn't work, i'm raising the fences. if you come to my house you better stay for tea.

Ive got 4 cats that live in my home since the day they were born and you wouldnt know it, I clean 4 kitty trays once in the AM and once in the PM, cats, like all critters, have to be cared for by the companion ("owner" if you believe you can own a cat) that means feeding them twice a day, keeping clean cool water available at all times, cleaning up "mistakes," brushing them, and yes, keeping the litter clean and fresh, if you have cats in your home and your home smells its your fault, not the cats.

If you should happen to already happen to have a cat, other cats in the area/neighborhood will most likely come around to meet and/or visit it.

My cat's a rescue kitty, so are the other 3 in the house. I take care of my cat though (vet) my roommate doesn't and when one escaped and he brought it back in - well it's pregnant. OY - more cats! I have one I feed outside and the tubby thing is pregnant.

Food attracts. Never intended on enticing any more cats outside - a neighbor across the street has a kind heart and he feeds them some - but "my" little outdoor kitty has been through a lot - including a clean break in the back leg where it just hung (but healed up more or less - just when she runs do you see that the leg doesn't act 100%) - so I've been feeding the poor little thing.
