She passed away across the street from me. Here's a shot of the news vans hanging around the hospital.

This is so sad. It's almost unbelievable to think a simple fall can cause a reaction that will kill you. With all of the bike accident threads here it's scary to think what can happen!

I wonder if she had a subdural hematoma, and if they tried to put in a pressure bolt or drain the hematoma. It sounds as if she had a pretty big bleed to go so quickly.

The first movie I ever saw her in was "The Handmaid's Tale".

Darn shame. I simply fell in love with her when she was in the remake of The Parent Trap

A darn shame. A beautiful, talented mother and wife. Rest in peace, Ms. Richardson. There's another thread on this in A&S.

Well....People can label me an a-hole or whatever. As sorry as I am that anyone loses a mother, spouse father, sister, and don't wish this on anybody, and my thoughts are with the family during this time.......

( here's where it gets nasty)

WHY THE **** DO WE AS A NATION PUT THESE PEOPLE ON PEDESTALS THEY DON'T DESERVE, AND MOURN THEIR DEATHS FOR WEEKS, WHEN WE HAVE SOLDERS DIEING .....FOUR LAST WEEK, AND PUBLIC SERVANTS WHO ARE THE TRUE HEROS OF THIS NATION, GIVING THEIR LIVES, SOME OF THEM FOR FREE AS VOLUNTEERS, AND NOONE..NOT A SOUL OTHER THAN THE FAMILY THEY BELONG TO KNOW THEIR NAMES??????? The news media makes a huge freakin deal about paris and brittenies crudded up cooch...yet we hear a ten minute blurb about how two solders were shot and killed..four blown up by road side bombs...20k+ injured, nearly three quarters missing limbs...Not to mention the suicides. Add to that the 2400 NEW SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES in the military this year alone......

Listen man..i'm sorry she passed away...but i'm sure as hell alot more sorry for every solder that has to go to war, especially the ones that come back missing something...or come back in a box. We buy what the media sells us hook line and sinker...I'm sorry...cnn, fox, republican, democrat...**** YOU ALL FOR THE LIES AND BULL**** YOU"VE BEEN FEEDING THE PEOPLE...YOU WANNA DO THE WORLD A FAVOR?? GET LOST.WE CAN LEAD OURSELVES........

Seems to me we get plenty of stories in Foo about 'regular' people dying too. How many times do you see a story somebody posts about a 'regular' person who died saving another or something like that. You're preaching to the choir with the "don't put them on pedestals" line to me, but I don't think it's putting them on a pedestal to just say you're sorry they died.

sorry, it just bothers me that this has been news for like...what a week since she actually got hurt and then the following of the story. It's just with all celebrities...when heath ledger died, thats all we heard about for a month. I mean.. to me, there are much more important people in the world than celebrities..namely everyone else...ya, i'm sorry it happened, it's tragic. It's not anymore tragic than how millions of other people die..she just got a front seat because she's a celebrity. And i'm not blaming her family..they didn't ask for this, I'm more angry at the news channels for airing this constantly. Yes, she was good at her profession, I get that..she didn't win a Nobel peace prize or anything. She was a solid, hard working actress....you could put those first five words in front of any profession on the planet. The news let us know what happened..people sent their condolences..now lets move on. I don't need to keep seeing this for a whole week, when there are much more important things going on in the world. That's all i'm saying

No, you make a very valid point, and I agree. Trouble is, let's say we started a thread for every military death. It would be moved to P&R and would turn into a heated debate about the why we sent our folks to war in the first place. Despite the fact that I love to nail the b@stards that started it every chance I get, we'd hardly be honoring the dead through our bickering.

So perhaps we create an Obituaries forum, where we can post threads concerning the death of anyone, anywhere for any reason? Wow, that would be a real crowd pleaser.

Or, we continue on as we do, keeping in mind that Foo is Foo and bunched panties about its content should be left at the door. This thread ain't so bad...in the other forums it's turning into a helmet debate...I'm sure that's what this beautiful actress who I had a major crush on would want...not.

Probably just because of you're closer to NY. This is the first I've even heard of it.

It is not a conflict to mourn the death of anyone who dies young, unexpectantly, and under such tragic circumstances.

She was a marvelous actress and seemed to get more beautiful as she aged.

Yes she did. And the whole story is so sad. How often have any of us who are active had accidents that resulted in some kind of smallish head bump. This one just turned into some kind of freak trauma thing after the fact. Very sad and scary.

Ahhh- so that was the problem. Only kidding- I think you have a valid point here. But I'd take even further. Why is it that when some rich white kid from the burbs gets shot or killed in a crash or whatever, that gets mucho real estate in the press? But when some innocent 6-year old black or Latino kid in the 'hood gets caught in a drive-by, nary an inch of space is given to that, if any.

Not for nothing, but I've been skiing for 40+ years. I don't ski on bunny hills, I ski on expert trails. Sometimes @ 30-50mph. I think it's time to start wearing a helmet.

Surprisingly..I squarely agree with PCAD on both his posts....+1

Like I said..this is a news issue, what they choose to report and what they don't is disgusting. A month and a half ago..was it Iceland?? I think it was Iceland..the government completely collapsed..how many of you guys heard that? I search intensely for info on it when I found out it happened..literally, one day of coverage..then nothing. I would think that particular situation would be worthy of a little more than 12 hours of coverage..just my two cents...I could be way off.
