Question about birth

How painful is it really? Let's have some comparisons for those of us of the male persuasion to imagine.

Why?
Pain is unpleasant, you know. Unless I am inflicting it upon someone else.

I did not feel any pain when either of my sons were born.

Can't say anything about the pain, as I've never gone through it, but I can say, after watching each of my three siblings get born, that it is an extremely messy and bloody process.

I can second the mess and blood. Imagine what a hotel room would look like after Modo Vincere and Explody Pup had "slept" in it, and you will have a rough idea about what a hospital delivery room looks like. Well all except for the empty jack daniels bottles and leather.

pain? not if you get an epidural. lots of pressure. the actual birth? it was freakin' awesome to be standing in front of my daughter as she gave birth to my grandson. awesome. absolutely awesome to see that happen.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say its kind of like having your testicles nailed to a wooden chair and then setting that chair on fire.

I've heard it compared to pushing out a bowling ball out the hoo hoo that was made for a ping pong ball.

Didn't hurt me a bit. My wife, on the other hand, did both unmedicated and might not agree with my flippant reply.

Jsharr, the emptied Jack Daniels bottles were part of my birth training regimen. The wife was eating for two, I was drinking for three.

My own experience in the childbirth area was unsettling.
I was comfortable at first.
There was a lot of commotion, and suddenly it was a lot brighter, colder, and noisier.
I didn't like this, and did some yelling.

Years later I was informed that the world was already overpopulated and is coming to an end.
That's when I felt the sting.

It depends on what part of the process you're talking about.

Labor is big nasty abdomen cramps. Or if you are lucky enough to have back labor, big nasty lower back cramps.

Delivery can be compared to trying to move three months of BMs all stuck together, at the same time. And it's not like the baby always comes out after 4 or 5 pushes like on TV. Sometimes it take 2.5 - 3 hours of pushing. Don't ask me how I know this.

A better question is would you rather endure excruciating pain for a single day to witness the miracle of birth...or would you rather hear how bad it was every single day for the rest of your life?

You're forgetting the 9 months of swollen ankles and morning sickness.

OK, but it can't hurt nearly as bad as a shot to the nads.

Proof: Once you've taken a shot to the nads, you will not ask for another one.

Within 5 minutes of getting a shot to the nads, a guy will get up and walk away. I have never heard of a woman leaping off the birthing table that fast. And a shot to the nads doesn't involve stitches, either. Unless it occurs from catching things on the bike saddle like that guy in the road forum.

And I only have one child.

You have NO concept of what getting shot in the nads would feel like. NO WAY would one get up and walk away in 5 minutes....you've seen too many macho movies.
