My dog is smarter than your dog thread.

You asked for it, you got it, just not Toyota.

I can't enter my JRT into the contest because she got stuck in a stump.

So what can your dog do that other dogs can't? or..... Name something smart your dog does.

My dog gets chainring marks on her head by pushing her tennis ball behind my bike, and then trying to get it.
Today, she ate a bee.

Oh wait... you wanted smart stuff.

My three dogs sit when my cat raises his paw. They are on hand and voice command.

When I am swimming in the river, Silky watches over me like a hawk (or perhaps vulture!). I don't know what he plans on doing if I get into trouble, but he sure looks willing enough.

Or he might just be trying to guilt me into throwing a stick...

Yeah I suppose. They are sure afraid of him. And I've only had him a couple of months.

My dog is so big he can clear off the dining room table with one swipe of his tail. I'm not kidding either. The other thing he is really good at is drooling. Copious quantities of drool.

My dog makes a circuit around the neighborhood for snacks.

We were told by more than one of our neighbors that they buy dog snacks in bulk because she shows up every morning.

Yeah, that pretty much eliminates her in the first round. But, I'll bet you if you hadn't found her she would have devised her own way out.

Airwick does the same thing,..... We call it payment for security patrol. He adds McDonalds to his list and I am usually informed when I get breakfast at the drive-thru that I just missed Airwick demanding his McMuffin.

Teh kitteh can talk, kinda. He knows all our names and several words, and uses them consistently and correctly. He's a talkative one, that cat.

*looks around*

Oh wait, this is the DOG thread.

*hisses, growls, and scurries away*

Sometimes if Watson, my female whippet, wants something (good spot in the dog bed, toy, etc) that my other dog has, she will run over to the window or door and pretend there is something exciting outside. Grover, bless his heart, always falls for it and runs over to check it out. She meanwhile snags his spot or toy.

Now you might think that is pretty smart.

However, this is even better (or worse ) - once she got up, ran to the door, whined, and acted like she had to go out and pee. I went to put my shoes on and jacket on, grabbed her leash, looked for her...and found her curled up in my pre-warmed spot on the couch.

Well my two dogs do like to chase soap bubbles, the jrt just forgets to put her feet down when she lands. OH wait, this is about the smart dogs.

Both of my dogs wait until I have my shoes on in the morning before they come ask for their morning pet.

And I owned two beagles once, both dumb as a stump.

I taught Bailey to bark when I say "Say HI". I usually did this when we meet someone. Now he barks on his own when a new person comes along and keeps barking to get a treat.

It's wonderfull if I am asleep (in the same room as the dog) and my kid comes in late. If a car door on the block closes, he thinks someone is coming in the house. He thinks he is the doorbell, or the alarm system.
