So something broke and you need a new thingy so your brother in law wants to replace it with something else. And your question is if you should do it? Of course you should do it, as long as it's better stuff.

What are the ups of having a Mac? Ive heard its a pain in the ass finding stuff for a Mac? and Ive also heard that you can only take them to a Mac store to get then worked on? Im just used to the convienience of IBM compatible products being just about everywhere. :) Let me know what you pros like better, IBM or Mac.

It depends upon what you want to do with a computer. Most people use 2-3 programmes most of the time and any programmes you find in the PC world most likely has a Mac equivalent. Unless you're using 20,000 programmes and want to run those exact same ones on the Mac, there's won't be a functional difference in the results you can produce.

So give us a list of what you need to accomplish with a computer... such as:

- browse web
- email
- word processing
- edit videos
- publish blogs
- etc.

we do a lot of browsing, C-Listing, E-Baying, music listening, I watch a lot of movies as no one seems to be interested in the movies I watch! we keep many many photos on our comps too, and we always have a lot more than one thing running, but thats about it, pretty basic stuff.
